We have 2 6 year old beagles and it was officially decided tonight we are bringing a border collie puppy home.
She has champion parents...there are 3 females to choose from so not sure which female yet.
My fiances Auntie breeds border collies and has for a good part of 40 years are her sires and bitches are proven hunters,Fully tested for hips, eyes and pretty much whatever else is available.
I am very nervous about bringing another dog home yet a puppy....Our beagles we got at 1 year and 3 years so fully house trained and such.
We currently live in a 1000 square foot condo and are buying a farm in the next year or 2,i am sooooo nervous that our newest addition will not thrive.

Border collies are very intelligent and are usually easily housebroken. Of course there will be accidents, she is a puppy. Have some enzyme cleaner handy for cleanups. She will have to be taken outside often but she will get it quickly. She will certainly thrive after you move to a farm. Until you move you will need to take her out for plenty of exercise. Because she is so intelligent she will also need to have her mind worked. Obedience classes will be good not only to make her a good canine citizens but also to work her mind. When she is old enough if you access to an agility course and classes that would be really good because it will work both her mind and body. As a herding dog she may very well have a tendancy to nip at heels and try to herd people as a puppy.

Lol i meant to say proven herd dogs not hunters lol,
Aarons auntie has said when puppy is old enough we can bring her out to the farm for training and exercise,Plus we already walk our beagles 3x a day as is for usually 45mins to 1.5 hours.
This will be alot of work and i am nervous about it especially with my wedding in 1 month,so house training and wedding planning.
We are going Wednesday(tomorrow)evening to look at the puppies and take our pick.

Does she have sheep that her collies can herd? They have a unique way of running when they herd. I have heard it call locomotion and they do look kind of like a locomotive. They get real low to the ground and their legs look kind of like the wheels on a locomotive.
