Tonight I went to spend some time with the kitten who'll be coming home with me in just under two weeks. Her name is currently Angel but she's being renamed Joni!

If you didn't read the other thread (when I was trying to convince myself I wasn't going to adopt her, lol!), her current mom is getting rid of her because of her "aggressive" behavior such as playing at nighttime, biting and using claws in play, and swatting at the dog.

After spending time playing with the kitten, I can definitely say she's NOT aggressive. She was playing with a wand toy and jumping, play-swatting the dog (no claws) when it came up to her, jumping on & off the couch, and just acting like a normal kitten. She does bite if I handle her when she's not quite done playing yet, but so did Simon and Garfunkel for a long time (and still do on occasion!). The only difference is that she is biting fairly hard. Not hard enough to break skin or make me draw my hand back, but enough to be slightly painful. That makes me think our theory was right that she needs socialization with other kittens to learn play boundaries. She was right around six weeks when they got her, and did not bring a sibling to play with, so I think with a bit of a taste of her own medicine from her big brothers she'll be just fine.

After we played for awhile and she got tired out and calmed down, she let me hold, handle, and pet her, and even sat for a little bit slung over my shoulder, purring. Later on she posed for pictures
which are below!

She is absolutely beautiful and she is going to fit in great with the kittens. I'm REALLY excited to get her and wish it were right now!!

She is definitely older than the 8 weeks my friend told me. Based on the date that they got her, June 11, she is at least 10 weeks old and depending on her birthday, which I'm trying to find out, she could be closer to 11 or 11.5 weeks.

I'm almost positive she has fleas, because I'm pretty sure their dog has them. When I go to get her I'm going to put a dose of flea medication on her before I bring her home, to hopefully ward off any of them getting in my bed or carpet and onto the boys!

I think that's about it! A fairly uneventful visit, just playing and petting.
Keeping in mind it's difficult to get a decent picture of playful kittens, it's finally time for you to experience the beauty that is Joni!!!!

plopped down:

and posing! she is the sweetest!

I can't get over those LEGS and BOOTS!!!!!!!!!
the color of her legs is like caramel
Well, and that one black leg in the first picture,
My favorite is the streak of black on her back right boot, in the first picture, and her front right leg in the last picture - how it's striped caramel/black - I've never seen that before!

Wish I could have gotten better pictures of her face, but trust me when I say she is CUUUUUTE!

Awww, what a cutie, and glad its just a play boundary issue. Makes sense too being separated so very young.

For the flea stuff, wouldn't the others need to get the treatment too to prevent the fleas just jumping ship?

They were treated on... the 22nd of June (had to check the calendar lol). So they should be covered just in case. I hope I don't get them! lol!

If you can get CapStar (cheapest on Amazon), give her one at her old home. . .by the time you get to your house the fleas should be dropping off. It's great stuff. I frequently give a CapStar at the same time as applying the spot-on, if I know the pet already has fleas.

Thanks everyone!!!!! I'm dying to get my claws into - uh, I mean, my hands on this little cutie!! I like 'em wild
Even so, I intend to convert her to a cuddlebug as soon as possible!

I want her on a Friday night/Saturday morning so I'll have the weekend to spend helping them get acquainted without having to go to work and leave her locked in the bedroom right away. This coming weekend my friend's going out of town and the boys are being neutered, so the night of the 22nd is the earliest I can do.
ughh... seems so long!!!
