Hi all,

Picasso, who came home yesterday, is at the vet for an overnight stay. She has a 104º temp and a swollen leg. The vet believes her brother bit her yesterday morning, prior to being transported to me.

I am sure she'll be fine in the end, but is there anything long-term I should keep an eye out for? Anything I should know? I know nothing about cat bites to another.

Cat bites easily become infected, whether on cats or humans, and abscesses form. I am sure your vet will tell you to watch for any local swellings, and if an abscess should form, it must heal from the inside out, so has to be kept open to drain. It can be a messy business, but hopefully, since it has been treated so soon after the bite, she will heal properly and quickly.

I hope so (meaning that she'll heal quickly and properly)! I am really glad the shelter found a vet open today (most are closed since its sunday), and especially glad they're footing the bill. Saves me the cash for future emergencies.

I hope it doesn't turn into an abscess or anything.. hopefully we got her there early enough

Poor little girl - she's having a rough time right now, but I hope she heals quickly and gets back to her new home. And, yes, great that the shelter stepped up and found a vet right away for you.
