So there's been a few thigns that have always bothered me about the our SPCA, but this just disturbs me.

Last night we were having a campfire with some friends when all of a sudden Wanda (a friend) says they found 2 kittens the night before while her and her husband Dale were walking. Wanda really dislikes cats but she couldn't leave them there. Right before they got to the area a car drove away really quickly so they believe whoever was in that car was the person that dropped them off.

Anyways they kept them for the night and the following day Dale took them to the SPCA. Explained that they found the kittens in the ditch (there are no houses or anything in this area) and they couldn't keep them.

The SPCA worker said "you should have just left them where you found them, the foxes would have taken care of them"

Dale is an animal lover and he knows the manager there so he's going to complain but COME ON......

This is the same shelter that said to me they would prefer money instead of product. It was Christmas time so my friend and I did up a basket of toys, food, treats, etc for the shelter animals and they told us money would have been better so they could have bought what the needed....

I would have asked, up front, if the woman was a member of PETA and supported their goal of eradicating pets.

We have great luck with the Dallas SPCA and transfer quite a lot of animals there, when we get overloaded. I have found them to be concerned about the animals, and anxious to help them get adopted.

Unfortunately, there are many people in the world who have that same attitude....to let mother nature handle it.I could not live with myself.I would have nightmares. My mom tells me that I can't save the world, which I guess is true, but I have to try if I can. That's why I have so many!

He's a guy, and a greasy guy at that.

He never showers, long, GREASY hair pulled back in a pony tail, he is always wearing jogging pants and 'adjusting' himself...

It's him and another girl that works there full time. She is no better.
They just started about a year ago and it's so disgusting now, everything STINKS soooooooo bad. Nothing is ever cleaned.

I used to volunteer there a few yrs ago and the people were AMAZING, hard workers, everything was cleaned and taken care of, they loved the animals, etc. Then for one reason or another they all left and these guys came in. I think it's just a job to them, I honestly don't think they care about the animals.

That IS sad.

You may have to remind them of the name of the place, and they are supposed to be Preventing Cruelty to Animals. Abandoning kittens in the wild, and letting "the foxes take care of them," sounds like Cruelty to Animals to me, and needs to be Prevented!

Why on earth would they hire people like this?? Boggles the mind..With so many people looking for work they could of found animal lovers to work there I'm sure. I wonder if the manager is aware of there attitude?

At our shelter, the employees are city employees (actually, employees of 3 cities!), so it would be hard to do anything about a bad one, but they don't seem to hire bad ones.

I agree about the plethora of willing employees. I've told people before, when I was in management, "If you don't want to work here, just let us know, because we're paying you above the market rate and we have 60 applications in the office for people who want your job."

That's the thing...NOBODY wants to work in our city.

Why work when you can live on welfare!!
99% of the business windows here have HELP WANTED signs in the windows.

Hubby is the grocery manager at our local grocery store and they're forever looking for workers.

That is so sad. I know people who work in fields that care for animals and people for that matter have to develop a 'tough skin' to do their jobs but that is taking it to an extreme. The rescue that I donate to will gladly take h products or money. When I take food and toys in they are always thankful and offer me a receipt for taxes. I don't take the receipt because I don't itemize so I can't use it.

The kittens are at the SPCA, they took them, they just said they should have left them there.

Hopefully they find loving, forever homes soon

That is the most absurd and heartless comment I have heard from a shelter employee
. Makes me angry too
. Well, I am glad they took them in and I bet they will get great homes. Nice of your friends to have saved them.

I really do hope they find great homes.

It makes me wonder if the animals there are getting any attention or love at all from the workers

I wish you'd had a hidden video camera with you. This sort of behavior needs to be exposed -- public outrage is usually the most effective way to force change.

Oh my gosh that is just horrible! That person does not need to be working at a shelter! They need people who loves pets and want to save animals lives not "take care of them". Wow that's just incredable!
