I need some help figuring out this place :/

I'm still very new and I have some questions about how the forum works:

How can you private message somebody or have I not reached a certain milestone to do that?

Can you add friends and things?

How do you post an avatar?

That bein answered, how do you get one of those cool cat + name avatars everyone seems to have?

I'll probably have more questions the more I explore the site

It's confusing, isn't it? Another new member has also had questions about it, and this reply from another moderator has links to the info you need.

You won't be able to send or receive private messages until you're 18. Have you seen User Profile Features? Members are able to befriend other members - see Friends and Contacts. I'm not certain that the feature works for minors, however.

This thread explains how you can get an avatar and how user titles work.
