Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this site. I've done some researching on this subject already, and I haven't found much information. So I'm hoping that somebody can help me with their experience! I'm a brand new cat mommy.. grew up with dogs, and hubby grew up with cats. But he's not as helpful as I thought he would be!

Anyways, here is what's going on:

Tristan is 4 months old. He's a Siamese/Snowshoe mix. I feed him Wellness Kitten dry food and I switch off between Royal Canin Kitten wet food as well as a couple of other premium brands such as Wellness canned food and a couple of other ones.

We got him when he was 10 weeks, and a couple of weeks ago he started excessively sneezing and acting very lethargic. He also vomited his dry food, so we had to start feeding him wet food only. The vet gave him fluids and an antibiotic that we have been giving him twice a day since. He seemed to have been doing better.

He hasn't been interested in dry food again at all, whereas before he loved it. So we tried to get him back on the dry food, but it didn't work. Today I started feeding him all wet food and leaving out the crunchies for him to eat if he wants them. Last night, he had diarrhea and it has continued. He has had it every time he has gone. He does make it into his litter box just fine, but it is still concerning me.

He's still eating the wet food just fine and even though he slept for a good portion of the day, he's been playing all night. He was even jumping around when I pulled out Da Bird.

Should I be concerned about the diarrhea? Should I take him back to the vet? He is up to date with all of his kitten vaccines as well as his deworming. He is also on Revolution for fleas.

Thanks in advance! Such a long question.. but I don't want to have to have him go through the trauma of going back into the car and to the vet if it's not necessary.

I think you should really call the vet and let them know what is going on and see what they recommend epecially since he was recently sick. Some stomach ailments that kittens have are really persistent.

Welcome to the site and good luck! I hope he feels better soon!

Welcome to TCS!

I also would suggest you call your vet. It could be teething or something else, since he's eating his wet food. Increase his wet food servings (4-5 times a day) until he's eating the dry food again, but keep offering it to him.

The sneezing, etc., may be no more that the typical "kitten cold," an upper respiratory infection that almost all cats get, occasionally. However, it could be something more serious, and the subsequent stomach problems could indicate an underlying opportunistic infection (such as coccidia) that take advantage of a weakened immune system.
