A few weeks ago I asked for prayers and vibes to help me get in on a clinical trial for liver disease. I went there, and all this doctor wanted to talk about was a liver transplant, how I needed to lose x amount of weight, go to drug and alcohol treatment, which I do not need as I have been clean and sober for several years. It was all very disturbing and scary. I know this doctor is the top man in his field, but he is very transplant oriented, and would not even discuss treatment.
My doctor is now trying to get me in to Duke Medical and look into treatment. It is a lot like cancer treatment, and will make me feel like crap for 1 week out of the month, but it sounds more like something that would prolong my life.
Even though it did not go the way I thought I wanted it to, I think something positive will come out of it.
