Timeline For A New Kitty?

Ever since I started having cats of my own, I've always had 2 cats. It's always been my belief that they should always have another buddy to play with!

I just lost my little girl, Kora, just yesterday and I still have my other cat, Bugsy, that's coming up on the big 3 years old!

I want to get him a playmate and was just curious as to how long I should/shouldn't wait.

Is it more stressful for him, the longer I wait? Or does he need time to be the lone cat?

I'm looking to pick up a playmate this week sometime. I just don't want my little boy to be overstressed with all thats happened.

How long did you all wait to bring in a new furball?

For me personally, whenever I am ready (financially, emotionally, mentally). We lost our little one almost 2 years ago and I'm finally getting to the point where adding a second cat is something to look forward to. Yes my cat missed his buddy, yes he was lonely at times but I did the best I can for him so far and it's going fine with us. We did try adding a cat to our family a little after she passed but we couldn't handle it and rehomed him with a friend (who happened to be looking for a cat of her own). I wasn't ready and started resenting the cat, wasn't fair to me or him.

It took me a year after my beloved Megan. She was my best friend for almost 20 years and losing her was like a knife to the heart. Our other cat Pooh mourned her deeply and never really accepted the nakeds. I know she is content and happy again now that she has crossed the bridge to be with her and that makes my heart hurt less. We just lost her(Pooh) to renal failure this past Saturday.

Its a tough call and for many people it is an emotional thing. I knew when I saw a pic of Zee, those beautiful blue eyes staring back!!!
