I have met a wonderful man, and his name is Troy and he treats me with more respect than any man ever has and he actually shows me how much he wants me to be around and how beautiful he thinks I am and he is okay with cats but Pixie will have him inlove with cats in no time. He makes me feel so good for a change he sends me messages to say he is thinking of me and he listens to me when I have something to say.
I have to hide my relationship from my family until I find a place as he is black and my dad would disown me literally. He disowned my cousin for marrying a black man, but the way I see it he barely acknowledges me now unless he is yelling at me for something. Troy knows how my family is and he understands and we leave it at that.
I hope we work out because he honestly makes me so happy I can't describe it.

Sounds wonderful I hope you can get your family to see this as you do.

That's wonderful for you. As you probably know, I recently separated after 32 years of marriage and met a wonderful man who is also black. He treats me much as you describe.

Yesterday I went to emergency to get antibiotics for my chest cold (I have COPD and need to do this so I don't get pneumonia). When my SIL told him where I was he came to the hospital and was in the waiting room when I came out of emergency. My husband of 32 years would never have done that.

Skin colour means nothing - it's what is inside that counts. I've met many white men who I wouldn't give the time of day to.

Wishing you all the best things.

Aw hun, I'm SO sorry your family would have a problem with him because of his color. Like Gail, I hope with time your family would be able to accept this... but there are families that force members to make a choice. I'm so sorry you might be facing something like that.

First thank you all for sharing in my happiness, and as far as my family they have spent 30 years abusing me and he doesn't so I see that as a sign towards him. I hope they accept it one day but to be honest they have always treated me like I was an outcast. I am happy and that's what matters.

Love has NO color. I'm so happy for you!! You finally get some respect and love!!! I hope your family can accept him in time, but if they don't you still have to follow your heart and find your own happiness. It will be their loss not yours.

You sound so happy!

I'll echo what everyone here has said - color doesn't matter, your happiness in the relationship does. I wish you all the best!

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!

I also pray that your family will come to accept Troy. My cousin married a black man and it was difficult for them at first, but he's won everyone over and is a great guy and is a wonderful addition to our family.

You sound so happy. That says everything right there. All the best in your relationship, even if your family doesn't come around -- but I hope they do eventually get it.

As much as I hate to admit it, the way I was raised would have at one point in my life, I would have gone off the deep end if my daughter even dated a black man.
She had been dating a black man for about 2 years, living together, and have just married. He is a fine young man, works hard, and treats my daughter like a princess. My granddaughter, Olivia, thinks he hung the moon. I don't care if he is a little green alien, he is a good person, and none of care what anyone thinks about it.
I am happy for you that you found someone that cares for you, and sounds very sweet, Best of luck to you and Troy.
