Hello everyone. My name is Cheryll and my husband and I currently share our home with a 14 year old brown tabby named Chance, a rescue we adopted at the age of 10 weeks, along with a 13 year old dog. We also lost our other senior cat, Tigger, a few months ago at 15 from congestive heart failure.
Chance and Tigger were very close and Chance has seemed quite depressed since losing his buddy, so we have been considering another cat. We were in no rush and felt the right opportunity would present itself if we were patient. Just over a week ago, while picking up dog food at our local petshop, our local rescue organization was there. After lengthy conversation we decided to start the process to adopt two rescues, a 1 1/2 year old tabby and white boy, and a 1 year old tortie girl. Although our intent was for only one cat, we decided to try the two because they love each other Weâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re hoping they will also take Chance into their group and wonâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t exclude him, and of course weâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re hoping he will bond to them.
I found this group while searching the internet for information on feline nutrition. Chance and Tigger both had urinary problems and were both on Science Diet c/d for most of their lives, which was the veterinary protocol at the time they were growing up. As a result, both of them were constantly battling weight problems and had virtually no muscle tone. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m hoping to avoid that situation with the two new youngsters.
Well, I have to go prepare the “sanctuary†bedroom for our two new kids so that theyâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll be comfortable and can slowly be integrated into the family.
Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m looking forward to learning from all the experts here.
