It's 11:40pm here and I'm wishing I was out walking.
I've always been a night person but everyone else is in bed. So I'm sitting here with energy and calories to burn. The treadmill is loud and deffinitely not the same. I so wish I could go for a walk outside! It's not very safe though. Figures doesn't it? My body is asking for physical exercise and I can't figure out how to use it...

Maybe I'll go walk in circles around my back yard....

I'm also keeping an eye on craigslist for an exercise bike. Hopefully it will be quieter than my treadmill.

Do you live in a neighborhood that isn't safe? I go for walks late at night all the time. The only person that I've ever run into was a police man.

I live out in the country. It's super dark out and the traffic that does go by is going quite fast.

I don't blame you for not wanting to walk alone that late. I certainly wouldn't. I used to have a large Pitbull who I would take with me on late night walks. Maybe you need a BIG dog
then you can go walk anytime

We live in the country, too, and the traffic just zooms by on our rural road. DH doesn't even like me out walking alone there during day light hours. And he flat-out forbids any kind of walking at night.

Thank goodness for my treadmill. Since we moved it to the basement, it doesn't make a lot of noise anymore and it doesn't shake the bedroom floor. When the treadmill was in the bedroom, I literally shook things off our bureaus because it vibrated that badly.

You might want to look into an elliptical, too. They can be pricey, but they are so smooth.

I've started taking my DD for walks during the day sometimes. There is a walking trail near me; but it's unpaved and makes for a bumpy ride in her stroller. So we go down the side road nearest us. It gets traffic; but much less than our street. Especially mid-day like that. And the shoulder is wide enough for me to get off with her but keep moving. We had to cut ours a bit short today because I thought I heard thunder. Got home just in time to hear more of it; but it went north of us. Of course it's cooler now that the storm has passed! LOL

I used to go to the gym in college and use an elliptical from time to time (exercise has never been my thing...working on that...). DH and my step-dad were both military so I could use the base gym for free; that was nice. I liked it except that I almost fell off a bunch of times. Ask my friend!!
I would love an exercise bike. I'm in such terrible shape I need something really mild. When DD and I go walk I can set the pace and enjoy the scenery. Soon I want to extend our walk about half a mile so we can go by this big stable where they have a bunch of foals this year!! They are often out front.
So for now I'm keeping my eye on craigslist for something good but cheap. hehe
