Sad morning...

I'm riding my bike to my therapist appt. and I notice 2 birds in the street. Upon closer examination, they were red-tailed hawks. One was laying in the street and the other was walking around it. Someone had just hit it and kept going. I stopped and turned back around, the other one had flown off and the one in the street was moving a little bit. I picked that one up and moved it to the sidewalk, where it died.

Fly free...

Oh how terribly sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, fly free, RTH.

The other was probably its mate - they mate for life.

They do, unless their mate dies.

Of course. But seems like one lost its mate.

I wouldn't doubt it was its mate as it was walking around near him/her.

I'm sorry about the hawk

Oh how sad!! I've seen that happen with squirrels. I don't know if it was a mate situation; but the one squirrel was really checking the other out. Breaks my heart...

That is sad. The poor hawk. And its poor mate, too.

Poor bird! It is always hard to see animals lose a mate because they don't understand why they are often gone.
