Do you think its hypothyroidism??

Backstory: when I was in high school, I contracted mononucleosis and it caused me to have hypothyroidism. I was told that there was a chance that over time, my thyroid function might improve some or even completely. Indeed, over time, my dose was lowered to almost nothing. During a visit to my home state back in January, I forgot my pills, and I felt the best I ever had. I continued my pills when I went back home, but they seemed to make me feel awful, so I lowered them to taking only one a week.

Maybe a month or so ago I stopped taking them completely. I no longer have depression, my skin is only dry after I get out of the shower (but its been that way for as long as I can remember and my dad is the same way with no thyroid issues) and my hair is growing out nicely. I don't think I am overly tired or sleeping too much, though my sleep schedule is screwed up. I've had back pain for at least a year, but it used to be lower and only affect me when I sat in a car, within the past few months, it has switched to middle back pain (basically where a bra would sit), in combination with terrible shortness of breath. I just had an 'attack' of sorts where I really felt like I was going to faint, it was really scary. Last time I went to the doctor, she said that my oxygen levels were fine, so what the heck is going on? Do you think I misjudged the functioning of my thyroid? Or do you think this is something else?
Help?

When you have back pain does it feel like a spasm? Your muscles on your torso are very much connected; wrapping you like a girdle. I have had back spasms, which can be quite painful, since hurting my lower back in college. I've also had pain in the area of my back you mentioned. From talking with other people; I've found pain in this area is pretty common for full figured women. When I was pregnant with my daughter my spasms came more frequently since my abs were not supporting me anymore. Often when I got those spasms it would feel like my chest muscles were having a spasm too; like it was wrapping all the way around me. It didn't really make it hard to breath; but it definitely felt different and a bit painful.

I would take note of your symptoms and how frequently you are having them. Also note what you are eating and things like that. Then when you are at the doctors next you can discuss that with them. If it keeps up I would definitely go be seen though!!

Oh; also since I hurt my back the pain/spasms don't come in just the spot I originally injured. They can come anywhere. I've found that making sure I move around during the day does wonders for me. If I sit all day or stand all day I will get quite sore. But being up and down leaves me with virtually no pains.

I don't know enough about these things to really give much valuable input, but my aunt was hyperthyroid among various other little issues quite a while back and oddly enough the doc just prescribed that she stay on the pill, go on a low carb diet, and run one mile every morning. She stuck to it, and from what I heard she was otherwise medication and symptom free. *shrugs* But I have no idea what her bloodwork results showed or anything to give an idea why that particular treatment was advised, but it may be something to ask.

I have back pain right now myself, but I'm pretty sure its because I've let my core become as soft as a wet vermicelli noodle. But since I've been feeling lazy I just soaked in a hot tub and got a deep tissue massage last week and that worked too for a bit heheh!

No, its not like a spasm, just a constant ache. It's not sharp like a stab from a sharp object, or shooting, but just a constant ebbing pain that wears on you and intensifies and wanes throughout the day. I haven't injured myself either. It's so far a mystery.

I've never seen back pain a symptom of hypothyroidism (or hyperthyroidism); I think you've got something else going on.
