ok so we got 3 cats and one is like 6, one is 4 and the newest is 1. not even

the one in question is the 1 year old

in the last week he peed in three places.
the floor outside his litter box
my dads gym bag
my sisters gym bag

my family is considering giving him away, so please what can be done, and what is causing this.

he has not been taking to a vet.

the cats always mark territory by rubbing their cheeks, and every item in the house they do this to.

here are some things

we recently changed his food dish
the house has been messy which is different

all help is appreciated a lot
thanks

A trip to the vet is necessary. The two most likely reasons your cat is peeing outside the box are 1) he's not yet fixed and 2) he has a medical problem such as a urinary tract infection or he forms crystals. In either case, the solutions are fairly simple once the diagnosis is made. The sooner you get him there the better because if the problem the #2 that I mentioned, it can be fatal if he blocks.

he has been neutered.

and i read that they usually pee in corners, and cool places, so im not sure if it is a UTI
i will definately get him there though, seeing as hes only 1, is a UTI even possible?

Absolutely vet check, and explain to them what is happening....Never to young to have a UTI, and at this age even more sensitive because of it....

Hello and welcome to the site. A few things to consider. How many litter boxes do you have? You should at least have three open boxes, no hoods. What type of litter do you use? You might want to pick up some Cat Attract litter as this will draw your kitty to the box. Are the other cats guarding the box or boxes so the new cat feels threatened? Have they ambushed him near the box? Where are the boxes located? They need to be in a nice quiet location. Do you have dogs? Loud kids running about? Do the other cats pick on him? If the kitty is stressed by something, this could be the cause also.

Of course, the above needs to be addressed BUT this kitty should be seen by a vet first to rule out an infection. Don't worry, this can be solved but takes a bit of detective work.

we have three closed boxes. they have always been closed
special kittly litter is what is put in
the cat isnt new, been around almost a year, but yes, he is picked on.
i dont know about the box ambush or anything like that.
the boxes are side by side in the laundry room. i know that could be a bad thing, but they have always been that way.
i think if if continues, we will move them.
no dogs
house is usually quiet, can be loud at times
i do think he may be stressed as we have been doing some things at the start of summer, house is messy, and we will clean it

we seem to think hes stressed, and we are going to clean up before we do any rearanging i think.
it has happened only three times, so we are going to see if it stops, otherwise ya vet, and see whats going on

thanks alot for the help.
