Sam - a NZ movie is showing in my town at the moment - Whale Rider (I think thats the name anyway) and it looks good - have you seen it? I saw the book in Barnes and Noble and I took a peek at it and I saw that the main character's name is Kahu - just like my cats!

If you have seen it, let me know if its worth seeing.

Hi Kellye

Yes this has been at the movie cinemas for many weeks, I have heard reviews from older people loving it but younger people thought it was a bit slow and boring.

I say go and check it out, I'm going to when it comes out on video

Hi Kellye, I just saw it today, and it was a beautiful film. I don't know much about Maori culture, but it had some universal themes, and was very well acted and directed. I'd definitely recommend it, it's worth seeing.

I think I will see it. My grandmother was maori of the Ngati Kahungunu tribe, up in the Gisbourne area.

Oh I saw that movie a long time ago. It was very well made and very thought provoking, and upsetting in parts.
