I had a job interview for a Nurse Educator position several weeks ago. I think it was in April. I hadn't heard anything, so assumed the job went to someone else.

Yesterday I saw it still advertised so I reapplied, because it sounds like an interesting job and I really need to find another job!

I got an email today from the Director stating that she is happy to see that I'm still interested and asked if she could go ahead and check my references.

OMG! I gave her permission and a list of references back when I interviewed and she still hasn't called them?!

So she's going to go ahead and check my references. Not sure at this point if it means that I have the job pending positive references. Guess I'll have to wait another 2 months to find out!

Good luck!

If you don't hear back in like 2 weeks, I'd follow up. Most companies love it when people follow up, shows interest!

In fact, I would call no more than eight business days later. And if she didn't have an answer, I would do my best to pin her down to a time-frame for at least the "next step".

Oh wow. I hope this isn't a sign that they're as disorganized as your current workplace!! Definitely call in a week or so to follow up. Good luck!

Definitely do follow up! And if she hasn't gotten around to it just ask politely if you can check in with her in a weeek or two or something polite like that!

If they are that slack in this matter, I would wonder what it might be like working for them. Would they be slow in responding to complaints or issues happening in the workplace, slow in getting paycheques out, lax in getting payroll issues taken care of, etc.
