Hi!
My 11 month old cat gave birth last tuesday to 4 beautiful kittens. She's done REALLY well, had them all in her nesting box and left no mess! She's a natural!
However she seems to be struggling with her back legs a bit. She's beginning to get playful and leaving the kittens for short amounts of time to go to the toilet in the garden but she just seems to be "hobbling" a bit. Is this normal?

She's not seen a vet yet since having her litter, they said to wait about a week or 2 for her to settle into motherhood.

Many thanks!
Nicola )

Welcome to the Forums!

Congrats to the 4 furry grandchildren!

Who is these they? The vet when you phoned and asked? Some cat person you know?

Myself I think, you should at very least phone the vet and ask, if your vet do answers questions on phone for their regulars. Many do.

Good luck!

No, that's not normal. I wonder if possibly she broke her pelvis or something. Do call the vet to set up an appointment.

Thank you for your replies!
She doesn't seem in any discomfort, just not walking as normally as she did, but it took me a while to walk properly after having my babies! LOL.
I'll take them for their checkup.
Thanks again!

She could have a life-treatening illness. She could be injured in giving birth or have nerve damage, blood clots, etc. Don't delay - this is serious!

I'm not certain one needs to panic quite that much. Phone your vet as others have suggested and discuss it with them.
