I don't know if any members remember me, but I've been lurking around here keeping up with everyone!

Last time I posted was toward the end of Jan. I had just came home with a beautiful little boy kitten.

When I picked Keiran out, his name at the shelter was Romeo, and that was just the perfect fit. He chose me, really. He was just a wee little baby, 8 weeks old, and he wanted me to hold him constantly. He purred and purred and head-butted my face.

When we brought him home, he immediately began sneezing blood. Poor baby had an URI. We called the rescue and freaked out. And they told us to hold out for 7 days, and if he was still sick, to give him back to go to the vet. The following day, we found he had been incorrectly wormed and had worms in his poo. The day after that, he began itching at his ears, and we found mites!! My poor, poor baby.

My boyfriend and I called the rescue, and told them everything that had happened to Keiran. They were basically unconcerned and offered us free de-worming medication, which we took, and we de-wormed Keiran ourselves. Then I took him to the vet to get some ear mite medication. Even while sick, my baby boy was such a lover. He was so good to the vet, the vet said it was the best cat he'd ever seen.

Flash-forward to now. Keiran just had his Rabies shot and was given a clean bill of health. He is still my lover-boy. He greets me at the door and is my perpetual feet/lap warmer. He kills all the bugs in the house without fear. Plays gently with out ferret, and wakes me up in the morning by cuddling on my pillow and purring. He is just the best cat ever. He lets me carry him around still, and purrs the whole time, and he is not food aggressive at all. I love all over him while he eats, and he just happily arches his back. HE EVEN PLAYS FETCH!!!! He is also a bit of a chatty Kitty, and he talks all the time. Especially after he goes poo and wants everyone in the house to know it lol I just feel like I lucked out and found the best kitty in the world
I am so glad we have him in our life.

Now....I know Keiran is mommy's little Prince....but my boyfriend is getting a little jealous of the affection Keiran lavishes on me (don't get me wrong, he loves on my boyfriend too. He just loves all over me a little more ha ha) So now we are in the market to adopt a little Princess for my SO

Now this is my boyfriend's kitty, so he wants to take the time to find her. He wants her to be a baby, 8-14 weeks. He wants her to be black (He's always been obsessed with black kitties with lantern eyes, but never had one). And he wants her to have a good disposition. We've got 3 different cat-exclusive rescues where we live, and a pet shelter. So there is plenty to look at and choose from. Not to mention it seems to be kitten season around here!

Now I tell him that wonderful cats come in all colors and ages, but my boyfriend it pretty stubborn. So we'll see what the search yields. We are going looking next weekend.

I fully support bring another love-bundle into our household. I mean...we currently only have one little (BIG) 6 month old kitten...we definitely need another addition, imho
Buuuuut, I just can't help feeling we really lucked out with Keiran. I just don't think we will find another like him.

Well the good news is black kitties are the ones who are the most overlooked in shelters, so adopting a black kitty is a GOOD thing!

I love it when I hear those words "We want to adopt a black kitty!!!!"
There are way too many at the shelters and you will have quite a few to choose from. How exciting for you, your bf and Keiran
. And glad to hear that Keiran is doing so well, he sounds like a true prince
. Keep us posted and pictures
are always nice to see.

Thank you all so much for the support!! And I am glad he is all better too. But man, he took it like a champ. And I am especially glad he made it after the URI. I knew nothing about them when we first adopted him, and the rescue told us to just wait it out. After doing some research and seeing posts here, I now know it's more than "just the kitty sniffles" and that we could have lost him too it, especially because he was just 8 weeks old when he contracted it.
I can't wait to go looking this weekend for a little Princess to be a friend to him. He's all fixed, and she WILL be too, so gender isn't really an issue, but SO wants a girl now :p
