Does your family have any heirlooms that are passed down from one generation to the next? If so, what are they?

Nope.

But my engagement ring is an heirloom from DH's dad's side. It is about 70 years old!

We have several - a good thing as we are a large family. I have my grandmother's candlesticks and a Victorian painting and my sister has a silver biscuit barrel. My brother has a diamond ring that was once my great grandfather's tie pin. My daughter, whose father has just died, now has a watch fob chain made of gold held together with a plait of her great-grandmother's hair, while her brother was given the gold watch. It is nice to have something that your ancestors also touched and appreciated.

Several, including hand-painted china, antique furniture and jewelry. Since I live abroad, my sister got the former and I took the jewelry, which I'm gradually passing along to her daughters. The only problem is that they've inherited her large hands, so some rings are going to have to be resized.

I did get a very old necklace with glass globe watch pendant hanging on it. It was passed on to my Grandmother from her mother. Then Grandma passed it on to my mom, who gave it to me years ago. I guess I will have to pass it on to my daughter..... It is an ugly looking thing though and sits in the jewelry box

Lots of crystal and figurines. That's all I can think of right now.

My mother and her siblings divided my grandmother's antique dishes, cristal, and depression glass... I hope it gets passed to me and my siblings. I have my eye on a couple pieces.

I have my great-grandmother's two sets of china. Several handmade braided rugs. Her old rocking chair (I used to rock myself to sleep on that chair when I was a young child. And then Grandma would carry me off to bed.) Grandma's old hutch stands in our kitchen. Her mirror that spent decades in her living room now hangs at the back of our hallway. She also gave me the desk that she gave to my mother at the age of seven, when she adopted my mom. (The reason I have the mirror and the desk instead of my mother having them is because my mom sold everything of any kind of value whatsoever. What she didn't sell, she gave to my sister. Grandma bypassed my mother and gave it directly to me; that was she knew I'd have those pieces.)

From DH's side of the family, we have quite a few very old gardening tools and such. My MIL's set of good china and her cherished punch bowl, along with her beautiful crystal pieces are now being used in our house for special dinners throughout the year.

When my paternal aunt passed away back in December, I took all of the pictures in the house. I don't know who some of those people are, but I thought it was important to keep them. Some of the bigger pictures are in absolutely beautiful frames.

I have some post cards that my paternal grandparents exchanged when he was teaching in another state, other post cards of my maternal step grandmother, lots of pics from both sides of the family, and sis has a chest made for my maternal grandmother by her brother in law.

Can I include a love of cats that I have passed on to my great nieces and nephews?

Maybe 1 or 2. My grandmother gave me her mother's wedding ring, as well as her own wedding/engagement ring. I won't have anyone to pass it down to though (and she knows that).
