Meet Snowball

For a while I have wanted a white goat - and here she is! Snowball joined us a few weeks ago and has settled in very well with the ponies and with Tasha.

She is a Nubian by breed, which means she had very long horns when she came. Usually, these are taken off at birth when it can be done easily and painlessly, but unfortunately her previous owner had not had it done, and so after a week or two of watching her try to use them (not aggressively but she likes to headbutt people and other animals as a friendly gesture) I had to get the vet to take them off. It was done under a general anaesthetic but not a pleasant procedure.

Anyway she is fine now, and here are the pix.

Here she is with horns when she arrived, a bit scared and dishevelled

This is her today

Tasha likes to see what Snowball has for her daily treat -but so far she does not think much of the banana skins and green veggie leaves!

She's adorable! I've always wanted a goat or two, but that's going to remain a dream until we move.

I LOVE goats, and she's adorable!

Oh I love goats!!! I kept 2 over a winter once for a friend. Like big dogs! Not a lick of malice in a goat!

My daughter has 6 nigerian goats. Little guys. We brought 3 of them home in her SUV! That was a story in itself!

You have such a nice group of animals. I tell my DH it's a good thing our barn has fallen down or I would be like Noah....one of each!

Have fun with Snowball! Precious pics!

She kept me up last night! We had a terrific electrical storm and I could hear her bleating. So 3.0AM found me in my nightclothes and rubber boots outside trying to calm a terrified goat. She was in shelter from the rain but really scared of the lightning and thunder, which was very loud. The ponies took it all in their stride, as did the cats, though Tasha didn't like it much.

Jenny, you are seriously enticing me to visit. I also love goats. I have a cute picture of me and a little goat that cuddled right in under my chin when I picked him up.

I would have probably brought the goat into my bed during the storm.

One of my best friends is going to Normandy next month for a visit to her in-laws. I sure wish I were going. I really want to go to Europe but I'm too chicken to go alone and I don't have any single friends that want to go with me.

Aw! She is a cutie!! My mom hates goats, but I think they are pretty cute. She seems patient to Tasha.
