Courtney Stodden - Child Bride

This is Courtney Stodden:

She is clearly as untalented as she is attractive. But before you're too hard on her, she also happens to be 16 years old. I know, girls at my highschool didn't look like that either. Now before you call Chris Hansen, note that she's also now spoken for... yes really.

Not only did she marry very young, but her husband is the wealthy 51 year old actor Doug Hutchison, who already had his midlife crisis before she was even born!

They should have known that this would rub just about everyone the wrong way be it parents disgusted by the example this sets for their daughters, to how hollow it is with a gold digger going for wealth and fame and a old guy going for youth and beauty, to how she represents being replaced by a younger woman since he's now divorced, to simply jealous guys, heh.

Your thoughts?

I honestly don't know. I mean, it used to be pretty standard to marry your 14-16 year old daughter off to some rich old nobleman, that way she could be a rich young widow before too long . And most girls at that age are fully developed women, so it's not like he's unnaturally attracted to prepubescent kids. I suppose it's common enough in most species for an older male to seek out a young female to bear his young, and vice versa.

Things are societally different now, though, and so my first reaction is ewwww! Dirty old man! And I don't really think a 16-year-old should be making life changing decisions like getting married. Life expectancy is a lot higher now, so it's not like there's any rush to make with the babies.

One thing I think everyone can agree on though, is that this marriage isn't likely to last. I mean, what do they even talk about and have in common? She won't get any of his references or understand most of his jokes, their activity level isn't likely to be the same, they aren't likely to have the same friends, etc. and can you imagine him trying to keep pace with her in ten years?

I say good for her. If he's dumb enough to marry for youth and looks at his age, then all the more to her and her family. Hope she gets most of his money because even if it doesn't last, she'll get a good amount - shades of Anna Nicole Smith.

I think it's ridiculous and a promotional scam.........I could be wrong...He's old enough to be her grandfather...

How the heck does she know what true love is at 16!?

Jeff Foxworthy once said; "Anyone dumb enough to get married for sex is dumb enough to buy a 747 for the free peanuts."

More power to her.

I don't believe "true love" has any part in this relationship.

I feel sorry for her, she is jumping head first into a concrete filled pool.......careers don't start this way, happiness isn't found this way........From all the mile markers before her, she is beginning her downward spiral......

True, but he's not new money, has age and experience, and been through a divorce before and isn't SO old that he figures who cares since he'll be dead (ala Anna Nicole), so he might have an airtight prenup.

But then again, she'll have a lavish lifestyle no doubt compared to other 16 year olds with pizza faced pennyless boyfriends, and if she does want to be in the entertainment industry will be able to meet all the right people. Networking worked for Paris Hilton, who isn't particularly pretty and has no real talent to speak of. So maybe I was too rash to judge and it may be win-win.

An idea that apparently has passed the test of time: "Who would keep a cow of their own, that can have a quart of milk for a penny?" John Bunyan 1680 *ducks for cover*

Prenups don't always hold up. I think she's got a good gig there and some folks don't mind the sacrifice to get what they want.

I don't know what that video is about. But she looks like a porn star turned wannabee bad singer!

For the naysayers out there, she really is only sixteen though. Some news outlets got a copy of their marriage certificate.

Of course, if I were to pick her up at a bar, the police wouldn't buy my "plausible deniability" defense, lol!

She did modeling, and I have heard of models taking hCG pregnancy hormone to help curb hunger and lose fat without sacrificing breast size, and no telling if that might make a teener look older. *shrugs*

Publicity stunt, nothing more.

I looked pretty much the same when I was 16 as I do now. Except I put on about 20 pounds since then. . .. But I was fully developed and just as tall as I am now. In most cases a 16-year-old is a full-grown woman. Physically anyway. Mentally/emotionally, not so much.

Ok, the fact that her husband is older than her father is just weird.

My thought's as well. If she's not doing botox already she's the type that probably will, then she'll end up looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein.

As for her husband....Stupid stamped on forehead!!

From the time I was 13, older men hooted and hollered at me, stared at my rear end and talked at my breasts. When I hit my mid-20s, I started to look more my age, rather than just 18 or 19.

But I always looked older until then. I worked for a reception hall as a teenager and was once asked if I had thought about being a cocktail waitress. I explained to the guy asking (he worked for a competing reception hall) that I was only 17, and his eyes got wide and stammered off.

I never took hormones, I never wore heavy makeup and I sure as hell didn't dress like a skank. I just LOOKED older.

As for the hormone injections, some holistic doctors are turning toward the HCG hormone therapy for weight loss in their obese patients. In fact, my mom is currently taking daily injections for weight loss and it's working great for her (6-week program, with strict dietary restrictions). A coworker of mine had a lot of success on it and is on the maintenance program now.

But I still don't know any pregnant women who had a suppressed appetite.

Especially true in Texas, where judges tend to see them as an attempt for a man to circumvent the laws of Texas by getting a woman to sign away her constitutional rights. At least 50% of them are overturned in court.

That was true when 60 was old for a man and 40 was old for a woman, and many women died in childbirth or complications.

"At his age"? I have to say, that 51 is not old, LOL! I think 16 year olds should not be getting married to anyone of any age, but 51 is not old.

I didn't watch the video but as soon as I read the first post in the thread "You can't hide your lying eyes" by the Eagles has been running through my head.

I wasn't referring so much to his actual physical age but moreso that at 51 he should have more sense than to marry a child who is obviously marring him for his money. But hey, old(er) men have been marrying young women to try to prove they've still got it for ages and ages. Hope she gets a good payday.

I got curious enough to find out who this person is, or claims to be, I peeked at a few videos. It is my opinion that no way is this sleazy person 16 years old. I don't get these bits and pieces of videos, but there is no talent there, and that is not the fresh face of a 16 year old. Some people will do anything for their "five minutes of fame".

Old age is relative.

The scientific formula for calculating what age "old" is:
If your age > 65, your age + 10yrs = old
If your age < 65 then, your age + ((your age +10) * 50%) = old

So for myself, 51 years is old, and I myself am old to a 16 year old. If you're 51, then 81 years is old.

Its science!
Yes, it is relative. By the time you turn 51, you will no longer be thinking of 81 as old.

When I saw this story, before it was even posted here, I was appalled. I didn't have to watch the video to know that she isn't the next big undiscovered talent. Well, big something there but it isn't talent.

After reading a couple articles with interviews with her mother there wasn't any doubt who was the most disgusting in this situation, IMO. She was the one saying how incredibly beautiful Courtney is and how everyone is jealous of her. How they jumped at the chance to have a 51 yr. old actor, who happened to be in one of the biggest shows over the past decade, to be her "manager." There was nothing that I saw in his experience that would make him a good "business manager" for an up and coming singer. Nothing. And it seemed to me that she jumped at the chance to marry her child off to a 51 year old man, 1 year older than her father.

No one had heard of this girl with little talent and big assets until this marriage. Guess that worked out for them, didn't it?

This is why it really doesn't pay in most instances to hear about the private lives of those in the entertainment industry. I have been a big fan of Doug Hutchison's work since he was on the X-Files. He plays a creepy guy very, very well. I hate to learn that the creepiness wasn't just good acting.

I still don't think that "girl" is 16, but regardless of her age, her parents ought to be ashamed of themselves. Then again, they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed if they think marrying her off to an actor is going to get her a leg up in the music industry. I mean, they couldn't find a 51-year-old singer/musician/producer willing to hit that?
