15 year old dies trying to save her dog from being put down

It is incredibly sad and heartbreaking indeed
Nowhere though I see that she was trying to save the dog... I only read that the dog was diagnosed with cancer, she was extremely upset by it, and she took the dog for a drive, with a friend. Being no longer able to drive because she was too upset, asked the friend to drive.
Am I missing something?

I don't think you are missing anything. I don't see where she was running off with the dog to save it from being put down. It says that she took the vehicle without permission and went for a drive and that she had her friend drive instead because she was upset. The accident happened on the way back.

I cannot seem to get up any of the three links you posted. Don't know what is with my computer tonight. I did read about this terrible tradegy earlier because this happenned in a town near me. Just very, very shocking. I feel so bad for the girl's parents too. .......
