UP with Lucas at 4am, he's not well

It never ends with my baby Lucas, he is not looking good at all, the redness and itching seems to be fading a little, but Lucas doesn't look good right now, I"m thinking it could be the antibiotic he was prescribed on Friday. He looks oike he is in pain right now, he doesn't want to move or get up, he looks tense. I don't know what to do right now, I will just stay up and comfort him. I'm so worried about him. I just hope is the antibiotics and that he gets better.

Oh Tammy
Do you have an ER you can take him to? Poor baby? Are there any side effects listed to this antibiotics? Anything he could have eaten?

Lucas is feeling a little better now, at least he is sleeping peacefully. He hasn't eaten nothing other than his food. I spent two hours awake, rubbing his back and putting my hand on his face, he loves that, and he breathed like he was relaxed.

We don't have an ER, you see what he has to go through? There should be an ER, but there's not I think it is the antibiotic. I"m waiting until 9am, that is when the vet opens so i can take him . I will check the side effects online right now. The antibiotic he is taking is Orbax 5.7 and the vet told me to give him 2 pills every 24 hours, maybe 2 pills at once is too much for him, I will ask the vet.

I'll update later.

Thank God Lucas is doing a lot better now! I think it was the antibiotic that was giving him stomach aches or something, the vet told me to give him one every 24 hours isntead of 2 and that helped.

His rash is a little better, not great, but a little better.

Deep inside I'm convinced Lucas is not allergic to food, he has what the first vet told us two years ago, he has an autoinmune diseas, skin Lupus (discoid Lupus). Our second vet couldn't explain the high fevers that accompany the rash and he doesn't have fleas or mange or any skin parasites.

Now that he is on 10mg of Prednisolone, he is doing better. I will be lowering the dose in a couple of weeks, once he gets better.

I will still continue giving him the hypoallergenic diet for now just in case, because I can't risk changing his diet now. But once he is stable, I will change his diet to natural balance or Blue buffalo grain free and canned food.

He lost 3 lbs through this ordeal, he was 11 lbs and now8 lbs and I can tell because his face looks so skinny, my poor boy

Thank you all for the vibes they have helped us a lot

Tammy, I know this is so hard on you. Glad he is doing a little bit better. Once you get him stabilized, and maybe on the Natural Balance, I am sure he will put weight back on. It really takes an emotional toll on us when the kids get sick. You are strong and managing his condition excellently. More vibes to you and Lucas tonight

Hi Carolina:

He is doing better since I started him on 10mg of prednisolone. He's been taking that dose for 7 days, I will start lowering the dose again after day 10. I'm so scared of him getting sick again, but I have to lower the dose little by little. I hope he doesn't get sick again, but there is a big possibility he could start scratching again. I'm panicking already

I changed his food to Blue Wilderness Duck Formula (grain free). I know I should have given the hypoallergenic food more time, but I just didn't see any improvement. He is not 100% better, but he is better.

he looks so thin, it breaks my heart, he lost 3 lbs, but he also looks like that because he lost a lot of hair around his neck and other parts.
Here are some pics I took today:

Sorry I'm late in this thread, but I'm glad you're seeing some improvement in Lucas with the higher steroids. I hope when you taper he doesn't relapse again. AI diseases are awful, can be so hard to control. And even though prednisone/prednisolone has scary, nasty side effects, sometimes you just have to stick with it, or the effects of not being on it are worse, as you've seen. I've been on it for almost 2 years now, I can't seem to get lower than 5mg/day. I drop to 4mg, I hurt. While I hate all the badness it's doing/done to me, I still function a lot better while on it. It's a love/hate thing, really.

I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts..

Thank you I'm so sorry you are having to take those meds too, yes, sometimes you have to take them, I have a friend who has reumatoid arthtritis since she was 2 years old and she has to take them forever.

I just wish i could take Lucas off them because the vets aren't sure what he has, so Maybe he can be off prednisolone. But I'm afraid , I 'm afraid of him suffering if I take him off it. I will take one stp at a time and see how he does.

I"m so sad he got so sick, he was on 2.5 mg every 48 hours and he was doing great, but now, we are back where we began

HUgs, tammy
