Does YOUR sofa meow?

Mine does!

Yesterday morning, I thought I heard a mournful, short meow near the sofa. Leo, though a big Maine Coon, has a wimpy little cry. Since his back was toward me, I just thought it was him.

Around 8 PM, I sat on the sofa, and Leo got on my lap. I heard that sound again, but realized it wasn't Leo. Then I heard it again. There's no way my cats could get under that sofa, nor really behind it. I lifted the sofa, but saw nothing. Then the meow AGAIN. I then realized that a cat was INSIDE of the sofa, where the scrim covers on the bottom (which was not loose, etc.) I called DH, and he cut the scrim, and Gemma popped out! On Friday, I had to remove the cushion cover for washing, and left the big foam rubber cushion propped up, againt the arm. I noticed that Gemma and Kara were playing in that area over the weekend, but thought nothing of it (I kept the cushion that way, as it made a nice wedge pillow to lay on while I was sick). We think that Gemma somehow got down between the arm and the platform of the sofa!

The funny thing was, I was just wondering where Gemma was! I was outside, enjoying the fresh air (I felt a lot better outside), so I didn't notice the cats much. Every time I say, ""I wonder where Gemma is? I haven't seen her all day", it means another Gemma-chasing adventure. It happened last month, when she had slipped out the door in the dark the day before, and I didn't notice until the next day. It took a week of searching to get her back!

They like to get into the darndest places, don't they?

I have often had the "where's so-and-so?" thoughts to later find out the poor dear was stuck in a closet or cabinet where she sneaked into without us noticing.

Just about every nook & cranny "meows" in my house.

Mine have a habit of crawling in the back of the recliners. I don't know how many times I've sat down and heard a screech!

For me, that's a really scary story!

Oh wow! No, I can't say that my sofa meows. Since we got reclining furniture a few months ago, though, we're always careful to make sure we know the cats aren't underneath before we put down the footrest...

... or have one of their appendages sticking inside a hinge to be crushed

Perhaps a collar w/ a bell would be a good investment.

Luckily, its not possible for my kitties to get into my couch due to the design, but I have a blanket on there and sometimes they hide behind it. So I definitely do a "kitty check" before plopping down!

Easy when you only have two kitties that demand to be in the same room though, so no big searching needed. I have however locked Wesley in the pantry twice now, as I open it quickly, he dives in, and I close it before noticing... ugh!!!

No, I can't say that my furniture meows, but my bathtub does Spencer and/or Katie are forever hiding in the tub behind the shower curtain.

And I almost threw out Spencer!! Silly boy. He still loves to hid inside things, so I have to always check before closing up any bags, boxes or doors.

OMG!!! Not again, Gemma missing . But this time in the couch. Much easier to find her this time, all you had to do was sit down on the couch!!! Glad you got her out. Keep a close eye on that one
