Cool cats

Here in the UK its quite warm today and unfortunately, my two cats who are incidently, both solar powered, have decided its too hot to stay out and have retired to the lounge. However, they seem to be feeling the heat.
So, have just been sat having a glass of fruit juice with ice in, when noticed Brandy was sat having some water. I placed a couple of ice cubes in his bowl which have melted quickly, but both he and vicki seemed to have picked up on the very cold water and are lapping it up like its going out of fashion.
Maybe a couple of ice cubes frequently in your cats water may score you some points - certainly seems to have with me..

Kev, you've accidently found a great way to get your kitties to drink more water during the warmer months! This is a method that a lot of owners use and some kitties love it and others not so much. Some cats love chasing the cubes around the water dish with their paws.

Dogs love it too.

Periodically, I toss ice cubes into the dogs' bowl. Pearl likes to bob for stuff - she drops rocks and toys into the water and retrieves them.

Rowdy and Buddy like to bump ice cubes with their noses.

I have now found that if I throw an ice cube in whilst both cats are there - they are fascinated by the cracking sound as the ice hits the warmer water.
Neat - will have to record this next time on my digi cam- have also found a use for the ice - but thats a personal choice right now to relieve swelling.

I also use Ice cubes ever now and then in the trinking bowl . Mine also like to play with the cube . Malachi favored play , try to catch the cube , then he just like to play with water to and is splasching (sp) with his paw in the water and then he lick his paw clean . He look so funny all the time .

Molly likes to drink from my glass when I get water from the fridge. Sometimes I give them cold water and they like that, I'll have to try ice cubes. My friend's dog like to eat ice, maybe the cats will enjoy it too.

Brenda - do you not think that Molly would drink more of the water from your glass if you took the scotch out first????
