Jack could use some vibes...

Last night I came home from work and couldn't find Jack. He always comes to the door to greet me so right away it felt like something was wrong. After a bit of searching, I found him in the corner of a closet, where he was lethargic and not very responsive. I set him up in our guest bedroom with litter box, food/water and a cozy corner to rest in. I had some wet food right in front of his face, and he didn't budge; this is when I started freaking out!
After letting him rest for a bit, I noticed he still didnt eat any food, hadn't gotten to the water, but he had pee'd in the litter box. I got a syringe and got some water in his mouth, but he didn't seem to be drinking it, as it just kinda ran down the front.

This morning I went in to check on him and he hadn't improved so I took him to the Animal Hospital my vet recommended. The doctor checked him out and told me physically he seems ok, but had a slight fever and asked if I wanted blood work done; which I consented to. A short while later the doctor came back and told me that the blood work looks ok; but nothing stood out as the problem. She said she thinks he has a respiratory infection and advised that we give him an antibiotic. She then said I could have him hospitalized for a small fortune, or I could take him home with the meds and keep an eye on him.

So I have him back in our guest bedroom with all the necessities but still haven't been able to ease my mind. Jack is our little lover and not having him on my lap or curled up next to me just feels horrible. I feel like I can't focus on anything until I know my lil guy is back to his normal self.

So I thought I'd tell our lil story here in hopes that it makes me feel better (which it has) and to get Jack some much needed vibes. My other cat seems to know something's wrong as he hasn't left my side since we got back, and has now made my lap his napping spot... but I just want Jack to be back to normal... Am I over reacting? In the 2 years I've had my cats, I've never seen either act this way... Anyways, thanks for the ear, I'll keep you posted on how he's doing.

Oh poor boy Jack....You certainly are in tune with your boy. I am like that too. I notice the smallest things. Thank goodness we do!

Take it easy and have faith the vet knows. Tomorrow is Monday and you will have access to the vet again if need be. It's so tough when these things happen on the weekends. It's good the bloods are good and his temp of ok.

Look at it this way, we humans have times when things are festering and we feel crummy. Yet we bounce back..I am sure Jack will be better once those anti bios start kicking in.

Please keep us posted as to how you two are doing. for sweet boy Jack!

Yeah, we all feel sick from time to time. Animals are no different. Just keep your eye on him, I'm sure he'll be fine soon enough.

AW poor Buddy and you too . You did the right thing by having him checked out and I am sure your little guy will be feeling better very soon. Don't worry too much, although I know that is impossible when it is your furbaby. Mega vibes that Jack feels better SOON

Poor boy.
Lots of good going out for him.

Our Cotton used to get regular URIs and would be like that for a few days, then one morning he'd be back to normal. I hope Jack's feeling better soon.

He's still not doing any better, just lays there and occasionally he licks his lips like he's thirsty. I've been giving him the antibiotic (Amoxocillan, 1ml twice a day) and giving him water via a syringe every so often. He's urinating in the litter box, but he isn't eating, not even treats or wet food. Today I noticed his throat seems to be swollen on the sides. I've called the vet and will be seeing him in the morning. I'll post an update when we get back from the vet.

I'm sorry he's not doing better. I'm glad he's going back to the vet. Poor guy.
Let us know what they say. I'll be thinking about him.
