How to introduce Cat and Dog?

Thread Starter
My new roommate moved in last week. During the process of unpacking all his stuff, he brought my cat one of his dog's blankets so she could get used to his dog's scent before introducing them. My cat didn't seem to mind his smell and even slept on the blanket several times. But when the day finally came when my roommate brought his dog over to meet my cat, the dog reacted very excitedly upon seeing her and ended up scaring her away. Now she hides under my bed whenever the dog is around.

My roommate's dog is a pitbull terrier who has grown up around cats and really likes them but he's very hyper, so even though he's only trying to make friends with my cat he always ends up scaring her instead. My cat has gotten along with dogs in the past but I think she's just never seen such a big one before.. lol

So my question is: What is the best way to re-introduce them to eachother?

He is just scaring not attacking so it is not a matter of fact.I will say you that you must keep them more and more in one another's company.Gradually pit bull will be normal.

Here you go: http://www.thecatsite.com/Behavior/50/Introducing-Cats-to-Dogs.html
Make sure to always have plenty of vertical space for your cat - shelves, cat trees, sills, where your cat can get to, but the do can't, so it can lounge around and enjoy life feeling safely!
