I brought my kitten Emma home saturday and she is adjusting well only a few cries at night now. I took her to the vet monday and I finished her wormer today she also has a URI and is underweight. But whenever she goes to the litter box and tries to go potty she screams her little head off every single time. she is drinking plenty and has a very good food ( blue buffalo) the past few days she has had diarrhea and i think i saw her rubbing her butt on the carpet today.

Should I take her back to the vet? Also what could this be and about how much should it be?

Yes, absolutely she needs to go back to the vet ASAP... There is something wrong there, sounds like she is in pain... please do not wait...
There is no telling how much this is going to be - it all depends on what she has

trust me as soon as i get the money I will not wait. I have a second interview tuesday and my first paycheck she is going to the vet. My vet just doesnt take payment plans so it sucks. I would take her monday if it was possible.

Don't take this the wrong way, I understand your position, really.... I have been there... But is there anyone you can ask to borrow the money from?
She is in pain now... How is she going to wait in pain until you have your second interview, then for them to make a decision, then 2 weeks for a paycheck?
If she is screaming her little head off every time she goes into the box like you said, she is in serious pain. Cats hide pain instinctively, and for her to be doing that... she is suffering, there is something wrong.
She must be seen... I hope you can make this happen independently of this new job situation....
Again, sorry for what I am going to say here, please again do not take this the wrong way: You just took her days ago; if she is sick and you are not capable financially to take care of her, please consider taking her back to the shelter where she can be given proper care. Please do not let her suffer...
We don't realize sometimes when taking a pet from a shelter, relative or even the streets... They will come with vet bills, and we need to be ready for them; sometimes these vet bills can come sooner and much bigger than expected...

I just remembered I babysit this week ... i can have her in the vet beginning of next week.

Also the only reason I am broke is because I took her to the vet monday. She comes from a home where she would most likely be dead in less than a month. Her mom breeds constantly. I understood everything when I took her in. This is just unexpected is all. Emma is bonded to me already. its not fair to move her again. We all sometimes come up short on money I thought they would have caught this monday when i took her in I told them about the screaming but they said she was most likely just adjusting

Also every paycheck i have an account just for my pets that I will be putting money into

I know how it is... believe me... I have been on your shoes

Once I was unemployed with my 3 kitties, all of them pretty sick at the same time (I do have insurance, but still, copayments, paying in advance and deductibles were still overwhelming)... the thought of not being able to care for them was unbearable... Thank GOD I had insurance! I barely made it, but I did...
All I am saying is for more screwy our situation is, their pain can not wait... They rely on us
to take care of them... And we need to make good by them.
One thing you can do, that doesn't cost anything, is to call your vet - he/she will talk to you, they do. I talk to my vet ALL the time about Bugsy, and there is no charge for that. Since you just went there, call in. Explain what is going on, and ask him what he thinks the possibilities are, and what he/she thinks should be done next. He can then tell you to watch her, or that is an effect of the dewormer, or to change the food, or you have it.
How did you change the food by the way? I bet she was not eating Blue Buffalo there in the nasty house where she came from? Did you change it suddenly, or did you change it gradually by mixing it with the old food?
She can be having a bad tummyache with the food change and the dewormer... plus the antibiotic for the URI (is she on antibiotic?)
Have you tried giving her a probiotic? Petco sells an excellent one called BeneBac - you can buy cheap on Amazon as well.... Your vet will probably push Fortiflora, but BeneBac is IMHO better and Cheaper.

He wasnt feeding her so it had to be changed suddenly and I told the vet this and she didnt seem worried. I sent the vet an email tonight ( I get my thoughts accross more clearly in writing)

She was screaming since the first night - before the dewormer. And has been for about 6 days now. Even if its a waste of money next monday we are going to the vet. Sooner would be better but dad doesnt get paid til thursday anyway. I'll set the appointment up as soon as the vet gets back to me.

We dont have petco here. I'm gonna see what my vet has to say.

Get yourself some bene-bac. Changing diets AND the dewormer is a LOT for a little kitten. Plus Blue Buffalo can be rich too.
Bene-Bac is definitely sold at PetSmart. It will likely stop her diarrhea. They might have it by the small animals session (hamsters/ferrets), and only on little tubes - for now get that one... then order from Amazon, it will save you a bunch of $$$. For a kitten, you can give 1/4tsp a day. You can also get capsules of pure acidophylus from your pharmacy - but don't give the whole capsule. Mix about 1/2 capsul in a bit of wet food once a day.... Bene-bac is better as it has more strains.
During any food change, diarrhea, you definitely want to have probiotics handy...

Then the Bene-bac tubes will work well... you just squirt them in her mouth... look them up in the hamster/ferrets session - it is the same one for all mammals

Is she really SCREAMING like she's in pain, or just meowing? IME, little baby kittens almost always meow when going potty, like they have to tell everyone about it, LOL.

I hope you can figure out what's going on! She's a real cutie!

Does she screams also when having diarrhea?

I mean, one reason for screaming may be constipation, but having diarrhea would be a relief in such case...

Good luck!

Maybe its a hernia? Does she have any bump at all on her belly?

Almost three years ago I rescued a pregnant cat who gave birth to four kittens. At about 6 or 7 weeks of age one of the little boys started screaming when he was pooping - it scared the heck out of me - his poop looked fine, he was eating/drinking/peeing okay and as playful as ever. Of course once he started screaming in the box I gave him a thorough once over and realized he had a hernia. It was hard to see when I was holding him like a baby (stomach up) but when he was on all fours you could see the little bump. I think every time he pooped he strained that area and the vet said he was born with an overall weakness down the middle of his abdomen. He must have had the umbilical hernia from birth, it was just not noticeable at that time but as he grew it grew a little too. It was a simple surgery to correct it and Zeke is just fine today! He's my big baby. Oh, and they did make me wait until he was 8 weeks to do the surgery, he was so tiny, so I had to listen to him scream for a few days. It put my heart in my throat every time he used the box.

I don't know if that's what's wrong with your kitty, but wanted to put the idea out there as a possibility. I hope she's okay, please keep us updated when you can get her to the vet.

Emma has finally stopped screaming when going potty. If she shows any problems I'll bring it up with the vet. She just gives a little cry every now and then to let me know she's there

Emma is fine now no more crying at all in the litter box just when we wake her up and occassionally she just wants to scream. I have a job now and am starting her vet fund.
