I've had my cat now for about 7 years, since she was just 12 weeks old. For the first 12-18 months of her life, she was the sweetest kitty... but then as she started to mature she turned a bit meaner and got more and more territorial.
The cat and I have now lived by ourselves in a 1-bedroom unit for the past 6 years. It's a small-to-medium sized unit. Whenever I bring company over, she's a nightmare. Sometimes it's not too bad, and she just kind of runs away, but most of the time she is hissing and growling at the people who come visit my place and I have to lock her in the bedroom so she doesn't freak everyone out all the time.
Advice on this? It's getting to the point I don't feel like I can bring a date home anymore. I really don't want to get rid of her because when it's just her and I, she's very sweet. After so many years I'm just getting fed up with the behavior. It's inexcusable in my opinion...
