Cat Peeing outside the litterbox

Hello everyone.
first of all i would like to say that I am glad I found this site.
I have a 8 year old boy that is peeing on our carpet.
He is neutered.
He use to do this alot at our other home which cost us our deposit not being refunded due to the damage done to the carpet.
We moved back in Feb and thought the problem was gone since I started cleaning the litter boxes more often when what I did before.
I started noticing it again about a month ago.
The area that he has picked is a corner next to the door that leads to the courtyard of the apartment complex.
There are no stray cats or other animals that walk by from what i've seen and also animals are not allowed to be out there.
I've tried confining him to a room while I wasn't home, changed his litter, bought an extra litterbox and clean the other ones. I also bought Urine Destroyer by Nature's Miracle to clean the area. Though I am not able to smell it i think he still can. We love him very much and he is a very lovable cat. He does go in his box which is the only that is covered.
The other day I gave him a bath after he had not had any accidents (at least while I was home) and as soon as I let him out of the bathroom he ran to the corner and peed again. My husband is at his wits end because he doesnt want to have to go through what happend at our previous home. He is starting to say that we should just take him to a shelter. I really don't want to do that because we adopted him from one and don't want him going back there again. I've read that it takes a while before your pet can even be taken by the shelter, a fee and he is mostly attached to me so that is another reason why I dont want to give him up. Even right now while I am writing this I am crying from the stress of going through this and fighting with my husband over what we should do.

We do have another 3 yr old female that loves to chase him around so i think that might be adding to the stress. I am taking him to the vet on Saturday to have him checked for a UTI but i'm leaning more toward the behavior side. They both have been fighting very aggressively where she has started to hiss at him alot lately.
I read a lot of the advise on the threads on here and will give them a try to keep the little guy.
I have him in a room to himself with a litterbox, food, water and toys. so far from what I can see he has only gone in the litterbox. I will be getting some cat attract littler to see if that helps and some nok out since it looks like the nature's miracle is not doing the trick. I will be getting a blacklight as well to try to get all the areas before I left him out to venture around the house.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can try.
I've tried the tin foil and unfortunately it does not work and my younger one likes shinny stuff so she tried to eat it and I had to remove it.

Thanks a lot guys

AW boy, I am so sorry and I can feel how upset you are over this. This is the worst when our well loved kitties don't consistently use the box. ..... It sounds like you really are doing everything right here. I would keep him confined at the moment in his room and get two open litter boxes in there with the Cat Attract litter. If you can, pick up the cat attract litter attractant too. It is in a clear plastic bottle and it contains a green herbal additive. I know that the Cat Attract litter WILL attract your kitty to the box, but I also sprinkle a little of the attractant in as well. This is only to REALLY get kitty interested in that box.

It really does sound like the problem might lie with your three year old female cat hissing and chasing him around. That in itself could cause litterbox avoidance as she might be guarding the boxes too or has ambushed him a few times. As for that particular corner, I would use the NOK Out, Stinkfree (from Petsmart), or Anti-icky pooh . I know the names are silly, but they really do work much better than any Nature's Miracle product. Douse that area, blot, douse and let dry. Then repeat. Also, you can put a section of that plastic carpet runner with the spikes turned up in that corner. A Home Depot, Lowes or hardware store will carry those and they are easily trimmed to fit where you need.

I do agree that a vet visit is in order as well. Could really be a UTI going on here. And, I am learning now that stress can cause the bladder to become irritated. I really hope things will turn around for this cat, and I am really sorry for the situation.

I know what you're going through Mojo.
I don't want to say you're lucky that he's only going in that one spot but.....
my guy goes everywhere and anywhere, whenever he feels like it. I'm also at my wits end.

It sounds like you know exactly where to begin. That's good. Just do what you have planned. Get some Feliway while you're at it. It may calm down your 3 year old so she's not so aggressive. I do think you're on to something there.

I have had the thought of giving up my guy a couple of times. I just know that when it came right down to it there's no way I could do it. I have to keep trying different things. Sooner or later something will work. I hope.

I hope your guy comes around. In the meantime, give him lots of love.

Hi guys update on my boy mookie.
Since him and my other cat have been seperated the last couple days they have been alot nicer with each other when i let him out when im home. No accidents so far. Went to the vet and he actally might have an upper respitory infection. The meds he got will help with a uti if has one while his results come in. He seems alot more lovable and just wants to cuddle and play with us. Hopefully this keeps up
