Rocko has been throwing up since yesterday. He usually does throw up alot, because he eats too much and has lots of hairballs. But never for this long. I think the last time he has eaten anything is yesterday in the afternoon. Also not normal as he loves his food. He has drunken some water this morning, thank God. Am just wondering if anyone could suggest what I could do until my sister gets off and I can get him into the vet. Which just goes to show how much I love him because I would never ask to borrow money from her otherwise. Soooo worried about him.

Also he loves bacon so my mom is bringing home some and I will see if he will eat that...better then nothing I think. Also what he normally eats is what is prescribed to my other baby for his frequent utis. c/d dry food.

Just woke up sorry if this doesnt make sense.

How long will it be before your sister can take you?.

Really it could be a number of things. It could be fur balls as the warmer weather is here, but really he needs to see the vet asap

Welcome to TCS
I'm sorry that you've come to find us during a stressful time though

I think (as you said) the best thing is to get Rocko to the vet ASAP. Is he an outdoor cat?. Perhaps he ate something outside that is upsetting his stomach or a plant indoors?. Either way if he's vomiting that often he could dehydrate very quickly.

hes in an indoor cat. i just fed him like 2 little bits of bacon and he threw that up. he did drink a little more water before that. my sister is getting off early today because i guess shes worried about the cat too. but the vet has the earliest app at 3.
gotta wait until then. i also noticed something new he was trying to sleep i guess and discharged was coming out of his eye like tears. i cleaned his face since then and i havent noticed anymore. i hate waiting...

Just lots of prayers that the vet can quickly help Rocko. If you can, maybe write up a little description of what time everything started happening, how often he's throwing up, what the vomit looks up (is it vomit, or can you recognize the food), how he acts normally and what you've noticed that's different. I always do - otherwise I forget something I need to tell the vet.

Regarding his eye, is the discharge green or yellow? Sometimes my little girl gets something in her eye, and she gets 'teary', but that's different from an infection.

If you have any plain chicken breasts at home, you could simmer one til it's cooked, and maybe offer Rocko tiny bits. That may help to settle his tummy.

C/D is ok for kitties, even if they don't have UTIs - my boy needs the CD, but my girl eats it as well....three separate vets have told me it's ok.

Please keep us updated...I know it sucks to wait.

I actually had to take him in today, to avoid problems yesterday with my sister. I gave him water in a syringe yesterday, but he couldnt keep any food down him. My mom took him in today though. She thinks and the vet thinks its because of the cat nip i gave him. He is acting fine but for not being able to keep anything down. The vet gave him a little bit of food there and he hasn't thrown up. thank God. She also gave him water under the skin which I have never heard about. I kinda freaked out when he got home and his chest was bigger then normal. (LOL He sun bathing atm.) She gave him steroids and some kind of vomiting medication. We are suppose to give him a little water and food tonight and if he doesnt vomit that up, give him more vomiting medicine. There is some kind of other medicine we are suppose to give him but I forgot. I have directions. If hes not better by tomorrow we are suppose to take him in to get blood work. Prayers would be highly appreciated. And thank you all for your posts.

Your kitty sounds just like lucky about the eating too much and the hairballs, so when the same exact thing happened to her, I took her immediately to the vet - Turns out she was blocked with hairballs and extreme constipation. The vet gave her an enema, Sub-Q fluids, force-fed her as she was not eating, and told me to change her to a hairball formula food.
Also, I gave her 3-4cc (ml) of pure vaseline a day for 4 days for her to pass that hairball and continued force-feeding her with a syringe until she was back eating on her own.
It is very very important to make sure your kitty is eating without vomiting and pooping.
Pure Vaseline is the best hairball medicine, and the cheapest, available out there. Make sure it is unscented, 100% pure. Give it with a syringe so it goes on the back of the mouth.
If your kitty is taking medication, give it 3-4 hours before or after medication. During a crisis, I give it for 3-4 days straight, then every 3-4 days for maintenance.
Inspect the poop - yes, gross, but you will see a lot of hair coming out in it.
Canned pumpkin - the plain kind is an excellent type of fiber to add to his diet to keep things moving. You can get it in the bakery isle. Add on Tbsp a day to his wet food.
Try to give him more wet food - unfortunately my lucky doesn't eat wet, but for them it is the best.
Good luck with your kitty

We are going to try putting him on a hairball formula food and see if it helps him any. The vet said if that doesn't work then there is a prescription food that can be given to him. I will probably try the Vaseline if that food doesn't work. We already buy a prescription food for my Bear and his UTIs and the cost will really add up if I did that.

Anyways Rocko is feeling a lot better, I can tell. He hasn't thrown up since 12:30 yesterday and the vet thinks that's because the medicine hadn't had a chance to work.
