Dandruff and shedding

Neko has a lot of dandruff/flaky skin at the base of her tail. She has also been shedding more than usual... I did also notice a small bald spot under her rear foot a month ago but thats already starting to fill back in (size of penny or smaller)

Any thoughts?

Food: 2-3 months ago she was eating California Natural kibble. Then we switched back to Nature's Variety kibble. I very recently had to step down from my position at work for an internship... and therefore had to switch to another, cheaper brand. I just bought Indigo Moon a couple days ago and we're still early on the transition.

She's due for her yearly exam this august.

Thanks

Is Indigo Moon that cheaper brand? Or was it something else?
Is she overweight? Is she able to groom the base of her tail?

Indigo Moon actually has a higher protein content than the foods you were feeding before, and therefor is better.

Interesting. I went with Indigo Moon bc the ingredients looked good!! I only paid $12 for Indigo (plus i had a petco coupon, so like $11) where Nature's variety cost $17 before tax for the lamb!! Plus its a futher drive to get... NV cleared her upset stomachs as a kitten so it's a brand I always went back to...

She's 12lbs but vet says NOT overweight...She's just bigger. She can clean the base of her tail easily...which she tends to do a lot now. Hoping the salmon oil help that in Indigo? Not sure if this is a seasonal thing, the older foods, or what?...

Is it dry in your home? The dry air can contribute to flaky skin too

I really don't know if the air is dry. I haven't noticed?? Home conditions not affecting Petey...

I don't usually groom her. Maybe just a soft brush here and there. I started brushing her more frequently now. Is it possible to overgroom? How often for a DSH who's shedding alot?

Any thoughts on the bald spot on foot? Pretty sure she's allergic to peas (discovered when she was a kitten) and some of Petey's wet food had peas in it (few months ago). I thought she wouldn't care for his wet since she prefers kibble but she did try some... this had me worried...but she didn't seem to scratch...so maybe she was biting her food instead!? I've since then stopped feeding foods with peas to Petey and have noticed the spot on her foot getting better...i think

I would definitely start grooming her every day. It will be very beneficial to her.

It is due to flaky skin and poor nutrition. The dandruff, hair problems and bones problems generate due to poor nutrition.I will suggest that in the start before going to a vet you must improve the diet plan of your cat.
