101oF... stick a fork in me.

That's over 38o celsius for y'all Europeans.

I promised myself I would finish the restoration of the Impala SS and do the yard and all the weeding, but I merely finished two strips in the back after doing the front lawn, and I'm seriously about to pass out.

Checked weather online, and it says its 101oF in the shade and UV index 10+ extreme down here just South of Houston... yeah, that might explain it.

Quote from the site:
Sweltering Heat Continues in the South

The 95 or above club:
Houston, Texas: Through Wednesday, 20 of the last 22 days have been 95 degrees or higher.
Dallas, Texas: Through Wednesday, 16 of the last 20 days have been 95 degrees or higher.
Shreveport, La.: Wednesday was the 15th day in a row with 95+ degree heat.

109f here yesterday, our overnight low was 90f
30 miles down the road, in the town we used to live in, they were reporting a high of 120f yesterday.

Currently it is 104f here.
Not really a heat wave for us though, pretty normal summer temps.

It's be crazy hot in San Antonio too. A few days ago my minivan said it was 105! I hate to think what August is going to be like. I pray we get lots rain soon to help cool things off.

Over here as well, please! It's been raining, day after day and the poor kitties are cooped up inside. Can't wait until this weather is over!

YUK!!!! I can't stand the heat, especially with the humidity. BUT, I am happy to report that in my neck of the woods, it has been cool, in the seventies, a bit rainy. But the temps are perfect!!!!, Sorry, Ducman, no for me, yet..........

I have no idea how you folks can stand that heat. When it hits 30C here in Canada I stay inside with the air conditioning on. You would have trouble getting your paint to dry properly in that heat wouldn't you?

Today it was around 26 which was just perfect.

101 is bad but not too bad in Dallas... When we get the hundred and teens then we are talking... Last year I think we got a good 20-day stretch of over 100F straight, non stop... Gets old after a while. I remember driving my car and the thermometer was marking 113F... At 8pm! I even posted on facebook. that to me starts to be too much.

I seriously couldn't live with that heat!!. My conservatory reaches 30 in the summer months and l can only sit for a short time during the day when it's that hot.

It's early 20's here today and that's just right...... No, give me good old British seasonal weather!!
We've been down in the high 40s, low 50s at night now and only around 80 or so for highs this week. It's been really nice, although not swimming weather. But it's great for walking. We are to get back into the upper 80s, low 90s early next week, which is more to my liking. I could not handle temps in the 100s though. No way.
I'd be more than happy too! We could do a weather exchange. We've been in a drought for so long I'd gladly take a lot of rain

We've been in an upper 90 degree weather streak + drought for a month. It rained last night, and today is the first day below 95F in a LONG time.

I hate South Carolina summers.

The heat finally broke here in Kansas City- we've got thunderstorms today!!

Days like that is when I pay homage to Mr. Carrier and the local A/C guy.

Its one of those things though where the people have pretty much adapted to it though. Back in Germany for example we had a "Hitzetag" because it hit 90oF and had no AC, but here they'd laugh their butt off.

Inside you have airconditioning, you go to the garage and hop in your airconditioned and tinted car (mine is 20% sides and 5% back w/ a reflective sun shield for the front when parked), then hop out the car into airconditioned work office, shopping centers, etc. and you wear single layer loose clothing, flip flops, a breathable hat, and shades and its not so bad as long as you're not stuck outside.

And on the plus side, you never have to shovel snow, you can run summer tires and ride your motorcycle all year long, your plants do very well with an automatic water system and if you pick the right plants then no leaves to rake, and without salt on the road ever your car lasts SOOO much longer (right now I'm driving a 1995 car that overall is still in great condition, whereas when we were up North in NY it seemed the rotors, wheels, and underbody and seals were taking a serious beating after only a couple years from the big temperature swings/salt).

Always pros and cons to anything... my favorite is still the tropics, but then you deal with hurricanes and monsoon season. Ugh!!!

I don't like it mega hot either. Early 20's with occasional cloud is just perfect! It's been nearly 30 degrees here and extremely humid which makes it worse, and my apartment doesn't cool down at nigh because all my windows face the same direction (north) and very seldom is there a northern breeze in the summer.

I installed my AC yesterday and wht a difference!! Within 1/2 hour I noticed a huge difference in the humidity. I was actually cold last night and had to cover up!

I can't even begin to tell you how miserable it's been in St.Louis. Cold and wet to 100 degrees and back to cold and wet, back to hot as hades etc. One of the strangest weather patterns here that I've seen in years.
It was very hot here last week, one day was 31 feels like 42. It's cooled down a lot this week. Today is 24 and cloudy. We are supposed to get thunderstorms, but they have said rain and thunderstorms every day or two for a couple weeks and still nothing.
Right now it is 91* F and supposed to be in the triple digits before the day is over. There is a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. We have been hearing thunder and seeing lighting but no rain so far in the afternoons. The plants and flowers desperatly need some rain here but I dont see it happening. so you got any rain send it our way. Please

Its raining here and apparently we are supposed to have 10 days of heavy rain,I want to know if we will get a proper summer? We have a lovely big pool waiting to come out x
post #24 of 38
Its warmed up to 65F today! With several days of rain coming.

We had three abnormally hot days earlier this month (low 90's). I couldn't stand it!

An interesting factoid about rain and drought the longer one goes without rain and also low humidity its harder for that area to attract additional moisture. One needs a humid air mass for a few days to bring moisture into an area do have a chance of getting precipitation.

Or failing that, access to Cherokee to do a rain dance for you.

Not to mention the fact that you never have to worry about your car windows freezing up and you can't roll them down when you're trying to go thru the drive-thru bank or Burger King or whatever. You also don't have to warm your car up for at least 10 minutes before driving it (if you can even get it started, that is! ), and there's no need to take all that extra time getting bundled up before heading out the door.

Yeah, it's hot here, all right. But being a Wisconsin girl, I'll take that any ole day over all that snow & cold!
Heated seats take the chill out of any vehicle. I never warm mine up when its cold (cold is below 10F!)-waste of gas!

Enjoying the mid-60's and rainy temps today!
I don't like snow and cold, but I wouldn't live further south than say southern Indiana for anything. I like green. I like rain. I like 4 seasons.

I've never had snow tires. My cars last and look great for 12 or more years. My car is in a garage at night, so it gets going in a minute or two on the worst of winter mornings. I've never had a frozen window or door. Shoveling snow is a bore. But it's only a few days, and I hire help. I've never used a sprinkler on the lawn. Don't need to. I enjoy raking leaves, and it takes a total of 2-3 hours each fall. I hate motorcycles.

I'm glad you peiple living with the heat of the south think it's worth it. But I'm sitting comfortably in my living rom with the windows open and a couple fans going. I've been spending wonderful hours outside every day, and it is bliss. There will be days and days of the house being closed up like a tomb because it is so hot out. But not yet!

No thank you! One of the things I really enjoy about Germany is the lower temperatures in summer. We might get a couple of days in the mid-30s (90s), which are no fun without air conditioning, but for the most part the mid-80s are considered "hot".

Ya'll should come out here to California. It was 106* as of 5pm. Coupled with the dreaded hot flashes I have been having, it is so miserable! At least I am not in Palm Springs, CA where it is 113*

The weather forecast is for cooler temps, about 99*
