When I read this post, it sounds exactly like where my cat is in her progress right now!! I'm wondering how soon after you posted did she have the kittens? My kitty was rescued from a semi-ferral colony and I have no idea how far along she is so any info would be great!!!

The best "symptom" is the nesting instinct. Momma will attempt to find the most awkward place possible to give birth. Likely, where even you can't reach.
It's actually best to keep them in a smaller area of the house where there is hidey places but not "too" hidey" that you can't check on the welfare of the kittens.
I normally have my foster cats in a room, the most noticable is when they start digging their blankets up.
You should be able to express milk soon before delivery as well. Watch for "show", mucousy pink discharge. If you see that...birth is immenant.
It's not uncommon for them to be off their food right before too...

My cat didnt nest until 2am in the morning the day the babies were coming. She was restless and scratching about and meowing.

Her first kitten was born at 12.41 that day.

Best advice i can give you is leave your cat to do what she needs to do. Cats have an amazing ability to just know.

Rosies belly didnt drop. but yesterday she blessed us with 5 of the most beautiful kittens i have ever seen (i am biased of course lol).

Make sure you have blankets on standby. Old bedding is best and place it everywhere. Also block off any beds she can get under. If your cat gets into a difficult labour u need to get to her asap.

It can get very messy so if u think she will go into labour on your bed make sure u also cover that with hige amounts of bedding.

I spent 4 weeks in absolute panic about Rosie and when the time finally came i didnt need to do anything.
