My cat was given this by the Vet so he would quit
licking a hot spot (that's what I call it) he has had
since Dec. He got 2 shots at different times and that
did not help. He's been on it for 3 weeks very minial
dosage. Hot spot healed and he's not licking anymore.
Vet told us these meds has the possibilty to cause diabetes
in cats. Anyone ever have that problem with that?
I want to quit giving him the pills but the vet said
to finish the dosage.

Aye, our Rocket also had a spot on his back that he'd lick bare, just one spot, about 2" x 1", nowhere else!! It was very odd. He also had alot of other nervous issues. We put him on Megase (brand-name of Megestrol), a couple of years back, and it seemed to resolve all of his issues, the bald spot, what we called "panic licking" (suddenly stopping in his tracks and high-speed licking a spot for 30 seconds or so), and some other nervous behaviors. We gave him a quarter-tablet once a week, don't know what the actual dosage was.

He was already elderly (>10 years) when we started this, so don't know about long-term effects, though we *have* been having some recent issues with him that I've discussed elsewhere here. Doctor tested for diabetes, kidney issues and other things, and didn't see any worrisome signs...

He was on a 1/4 pill for 2 weeks and 1/4 pill every other day.
It did finally heal the hot spot and got to put his collar
back on so no more stealth kittie in the house!
