Hi there! Haha, I'm a new member who has been browsing the forums for a while, and finally wanted to say hello and introduce myself! Although I have a general love for animals, I never truly considered my self a cat lover until Dr. Claw entered my life a year and a half ago. When I decided to bring home a rescue cat, I did not yet realize that what I was really bringing home was a life long friend. He has touched my life in so many ways, and I wanted to do my part to take the very best care of him I possibly can, so I joined this site in order to be part of a knowledge sharing support system.

Here is a link to the photo gallery I posted on his website for anyone who care to admire this absolutely adorable creature! (Yes...I know...I made a website for my cat...haha!)

Welcome to TCS. As you have found, cats are good at adopting us and making them the center of our lives.

Members are reminded to review rule #5:

5. Solicitations – TheCatSite.com does not encourage or promote solicitation of money from our members. We will help in every way possible with our knowledge and support, but as many of us have multi-cat households and work with local rescue groups, monetary support is not always possible to causes or people we do not personally know. Members are allowed one posting in the SOS forum for each organization. Repeated postings for the same cause or organization will be deleted.

The needs of rescue workers are great and we recognize this fact. To care for multiple cats, find suitable homes, good vet care, food, etc. is costly. From time to time you will see some posts come up to ask for donations for a cause. It is YOUR responsibility to check out these solicitors to the best of your ability. More often, you will see pleas from individuals asking for money to be sent directly to them to assist with veterinary bills. Some come up with slick websites, others just have heartwrenching stories. In each of these cases, the poster is allowed ONE thread, to be placed in Cats SOS.

In either case, if you feel compelled to donate money ask for references, phone numbers, call around the area and find out if this is a legitimate cause or a scam. For personal pleas, get the veterinarianâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s contact information and send money directly to the veterinarian to help with bills for that particular cat. If that information is not available, you have the answer if the plea is legitimate or a scam.

Be very careful before you send any money: no matter how effective the plea is, check it out first before opening your wallet.

I didn't mean to break any rules. I do have a sponsorship site for my cat, but it also serves as a photo gallery, a silly blog, and a number of other purposes. I'm new to this forum, and really didn't mean any harm. The site is truly only meant for people who take an interest and, if they decide "why not" I figured it'd be a good way to collect a little extra money for him. But I don't want to do anything unethical...and didn't realize I was.

If I stop providing links to my cats site, can I still participate in this community? Also, should I delete the other posts that have links? There are 2 more (one where I linked to his photo gallery, and another where I linked to my site as a reference for funding the care of a rescue animal via ad revenue on a website to offset the costs and, hopefully, get more cats into good homes).

I'm a media nerd and a firm believer in the power of technology and the internet to change the world...but if my tactics are like that of a spammer or solicitor, then I have defeated my own purpose and I apologize. I will post this private message for everyone else to see because I'd sincerely like to apologize to you all.

It's ok, we just have to put up the reminder to people.

We do ask in the future that you don't post links to your website in posts, that you put a discrete link in a signature

You are most definitely welcome to the site, and we hope you enjoy your time here!

Thanks, Sarah. I'm just a newb learning her way around. Haha, to be honest, I've never even participated in a forum before.

Thanks guys! I wish I had a better picture of his eyes. They are the most beautiful, piercing green and are stunning against his black white and grey coat. I've been trying to identify what kind of cat he is, as he doesn't seem to be like your average cat breed. He's always reminded me of some distant cousin to the snow leopard or something, and someone once told me he was likely related to ocelots. Anyone have any idea?

Great news! Thanks to raising this question on another thread, I discovered that he is an Oriental Shorthair Cat....or at least predominantly so. Check it out:
