Pregnant cat with discharge for 7 days

Hello,

New here and I have a question, if someone has experience with this. Our cat, when she went in to get spayed, was found to be pregnant. Xray showed one kitten, estimated due date of 6/15. She is a small cat. For the past seven days she has had a tiny amount of red/pink discharge, tummy has dropped, no other labor signs, all else well. Vet visit today showed good kitten heartbeat, but vet was puzzled by length of discharge prior to birth. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have additional information, so my question has changed slightly. My vet cultured the discharge, there were some white blood cells so she suspects some type of infection and has prescribed clovamox. Anyone had something like this with a positive outcome? Fetus was viable as of this morning, she is due any day now.

Im just happy you were to a good vet, and do have proper medication.

I just wanted to follow up my post, my cat ended up with a c section last night and spay. The kitten did not make it, although viable until birth. Just to recap, if anyone has this type of experience, Lucy had some pinkish/mucousy discharge off and on for a week. No signs of active labor or discomfort, no odor to the discharge. Her temp never dropped. Apparently the discharge was coming from the sac around the kitten, so I would encourage anyone if in doubt, call your vet. Be proactive, I understand that 99% of the time, labor supposedly goes smoothly for cats, but I would encourage you to at least ask. It can't hurt.
