This sounds like so many frantic warnings that turn out to be false -- but to be safe, I wanted to pass along the claim that "Cocoa Mulch" is being blamed for at least one pet's death. It's hard to imagine that anyone would market a product intended for outdoor use that's deadly to animals commonly found outdoors... but stranger things have certainly happened.
The part that is known to be true is that the toxic ingredient is in there -- but most sources say it's such a small amount that an animal is very unlikely to eat enough to be hurt.
I hope it turns out not to be true, but just in case...
