Hello,

Just wondering which deworming pill brands you guys use (or would recommend). Also, wondering if we'll have to bin deworming pills which expired in July 2009 (!) or if we can still use them (dried stuff after all). Thanks

I'm not sure what kind of de-worming pills you have in the Netherlands. Here in the U.S., there really aren't any great over-the-counter de-wormers; it's best to get something from the vet.

I probably wouldn't use pills that are 2 years expired. Maybe a few months after the date, but not 2 years!

Hello
. I have had great success with Profender, a spot-on deworming kills all life stages of Hookworm, Roundworms and Tapeworms. You could ask your vet about this. You have to put it on the back of the cat's head so they cannot lick at it. It dries completely in about twelve hours. The company claims that you only need one treatment, but if I know a cat has either of these worms, then I treat again in three weeks to the date.

There really are no safe over-the-counter worm pills here so I would always go to a vet for worm medication. Just like flea medication, it is a poison that you are introducing into your cat.
