I ordered pizza tonight for dinner. I order from there once or twice a month.

I've been waiting and waiting for my delivery and was about to call them when they called me.

Apparently the driver dropped the debit machine and broke it. They asked if I could pay cash. Unfortunately I don't have enough cash at home to pay for it and needed to use debit.

So because the machine is broken and I'm a regular customer, they are giving me my pizza for free this evening!

I gave the guy a $10.00 tip! I figured the food is free and he was having such a bad evening. So my dinner cost me $10.00!

I miss the old "30 mins or its free" thing pizza places used to have. Now when I call its "it'll be 45mins to an hour sir, and there is a $1.50 delivery fee on top of the tip you still owe".

Because of all that, I became a frozen pizza guy.

Some places here it's $3.00 delivery, and sometimes a 2 hour wait!! The last couple times I ordered it was about 90 minutes.

I wonder if the corporate pizza CEOs (around here there are really only three major players left; Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa Johns) just got greedier and decided to give up on the price/delivery-time war, or if its really just rising fuel cost that became the problem.

And I always wondered why they have 30+ year old drivers going out in 3000lb vehicles getting 20mpg or less delivering a pizza, rather than just throwing a teen the keys to a store-bought 100mpg scooter with an insulated pizza box holder on the back. I would have been more than happy w/ that gig back in HS.

The new Honda Elite would do the trick.

That's awesome, they are really good at their business!! I used to work at a pizza place in high school and we never did that sort of thing, no wonder drivers complained about low tips

That's good of them to want to make it right. And very good of you for tipping well! I bet that driver got stiffed on tips by other people who got their pizza late...

And I agree- free food tastes better!

That's great! I only got a free meal from Taco Bell since they messed up my order!
