Can being a cryptorchid cause UTI's?

In an interesting turn of events, my cat, Sneak, who I posted about here a little while ago, may in fact NOT be neutered. A little back story, for anyone interested..

I got him from a friend as a feral 8wk. old kitten. She worked at a vet clinic at the time, and when I picked him up, I was told that he was already neutered. That was in '07.

So he is now almost 5yrs. old, has never sprayed, doesn't "look" intact, nothing. Took him to my regular vet for another urinalysis on Tuesday, and they called Wednesday and told me there was sperm in his urine They said they'd have them retest it, because of how weird that sounded.. called me back today and yup, sperm still there! So they called my friend I got him from, who is now saying that he WASN'T neutered..

Weird part is, he had a UTI back in January when I was still with the vet said friend works at, got a urinalysis there, and they never said anything about sperm being present..

So anyway, now that I'm completely baffled, I'm wondering if being a cryptorchid can cause UTI's? That is what he has now, no crystals present at all. We're going to recheck his urine in 10 days once he's finished this round of antibiotics, and my vet will feel around to see if he can feel anything there. If it comes back positive for sperm again, obviously, I will have him neutered. Just curious if anyone else has has a cryptorchid male that had UTI's?

I've never heard of any connection, and have had both a dog and a cat who were crypto-orchids. Neither one had trouble with UTIs. I had the cat neutered, but not the dog.

You definitely need to get this sorted as they have a higher risk of cancer if not neutered

Oh he will definitely be getting neutered once we figure this all out! I just can't believe he's almost 5 and we've never caught this!

Does his pee smell tomcat-ish (veryvery strong, so that the litter can't hide the odor)? Does he have the big boofy tomcat neck and cheeks? Even if a tom is a perfect gentleman and doesn't spray, his pee will still be very strong-smelling.

Also, is it even possible for sperm to be present in urine under normal circumstances? Sounds sort of odd to me.

I don't think that cryptorchidism in itself causes UTIs, but possibly whatever caused the cryptorchidism could also cause other genital abnormalities that could lead to UTIs.

Nope, pee isn't strong at all. And no big cheeks either (I was saying that today "You don't even have squishy cheeks like a tom cat!" ).. here's a picture of him,

I honestly have no clue if it's possible for sperm to show up in urine in normal circumstances.. I mean, his urine sample showed it, so I guess it is! Trust me, this whole situation has me baffled. Like I said, my friend I got him from as a kitten told me he was neutered at the clinic she works at (which I took him to for a couple years).. but my vet called there today to ask about the surgery (I have since switched vets) and said friend said "We didn't neuter him!".. so now she's changed her story, almost 5yrs. later..

I find it odd that his wee doesn't smell - i have fostered two adults with undescended testicles and it was obvious they were unneutered when they had a wee, although a vet had scanned the first one and said he had been done!
