How would you know if say you were slightly underfeeding a kitten. Would that impact behavior in some way?

Hi tkaner, can you give more specifics? How old is the kitten, what are you feeding the kitten, how much and how many times per day are you feeding the kitten?

If the kitten is showing signs of weakness or dehydration you need to get them to the vet ASAP. Can you tell us what the behavior is that your are speaking of?

A kitten should be fed 4-6 times daily.

Kittens should be allowed to eat all they want 3-6 times a day - however, IMO it is harmful for their health to keep food available 24/7, so doing that is something I would not recommend.

Try to feed as much wet (and as little dry, if any) as possible, and let your kitten pick how much s/he wants to eat.

This kitten is 7 months old and she is on Hills ID. She has Herpes, soft stool and previously diarrhea. She also has a seemingly random need to urinate outside the litterbox. Her tests all came back negative or normal including the urinalysis, culture, fecal exam, diarrhea panel, blood work and upper respiratory test.

I am just trying to sherlock holmes this. Seh has gained weight, is playfull.

However, she does not really like to be held, but does like to be petted and will walk and sometimes sleep on you.

Her roommate is 9 months old and is a fixed boy. He plays a little rough, but I hardly ever hear meowing, hissing or growling.
