Greenies

Forgot to mention that last night at Petsmart I picked up some Greenies treats for the kittens. They love them already! It took Sir Garfunkel the Insane awhile to figure out it wasn't a playtoy, but once he figured it out, they both loved them!

I wish they had a wider range of flavors - 3 fish flavors, 1 chicken, and 1 beef. The Petsmart I visited didn't have any beef, and I don't want to do any fish for my boys. I'd love to see duck/other fowl, and maybe catnip

In the survey I posted it seemed like a lot of you used Greenies, so thanks for the suggestion!

Feline Greenies rock Make up some games with the kitty, like hide and seek with the Greenies. You'll have a ball!

I taught Simba tricks and use the Feline Greenies as rewards. He loves them too!
Here's a video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baaBGNxLlrI

Is there a need to be concerned about the fish flavored ones?

It looks like they are all made of chicken despite what the "flavor" says it is.

I have all tile in the great room, so a fun trick is to go to one far corner and then toss the greenie across the floor as hard as I can. Wesley will go flying after it, usually overshoot, and try to kick like a maniac to get back on course resulting in some Tokyo drifting action as he claws for traction.

Good for teeth but not good when I give more than 4 - then they start throwing up.

I've actually heard that feedback as well. Someone here on the forums said if they give them too close to mealtime the kitties will throw up. I give three after the morning meal and three after the evening meal. And then some here & there.

Mine get 5 each daily, all at the same time, late in the evening. It's well after mealtime for them and it's about an hour before bedtime. I've never had mine throw up after eating them. Interesting to hear about them throwing up if eaten too close to mealtime.

The throwing up I think is just a matter of tummy capacity.

If you give several, because the pieces are so huge, you're basically giving a whole extra meal.

If they just ate and have a full tummy still, and then out of pure excitement over the Greenies try to stuff a whole extra meal on top, its likely they are going to puke.

The only "special" thing about the greenies in that respect IMO is the fact that they are very palatable, so they eat them when they are full, whereas if you put down extra wet food they would probably just sniff it and walk away until hungry again.

Mine love them anytime, anywhere, whether hungry or not, wet food or dry on the side
