Mac users? OS X Lion

Looks like Snow Leopard is obsolete after only 2 years - in July, Lion will be coming out. Current users will be able to purchase the upgrade for $30 in the App Store.

Well, Snow Leopard really wasn't a true refresh. It was more like a "service pack" type of update, so OSX really is overdue for a full update.

I hope that they finally add TRIM support for SSDs in the next update, as they are common place now and provide the most noticeable performance upgrade for your average user.

The other thing they really need to play catchup on are multi-touch and HTPC functionality (the lack of tablet computer optimizations and a native media center don't make sense for 2011). They have to compete w/ the Windows 8 release, and its set to run not just on Intel Cores, Atoms, and AMD chips as at present, but cell processors as well to make it on ultra-light tablets and the like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p92Qf...layer_embedded

I won't be getting it, only because my MacBook is about ready to die and as soon as I can afford it I will be replacing it. At that time, new macs should be coming with Lion.

Seriously though, I'm half debating on switching back to PC, as much as I love my mac. I have had nothing but problems with this MacBook. When I was in college we had to rent our laptops, so I've gone through the MacBook G4 and MacBook Pro, now I have the black MacBook - it's been the most stable so far. I need to have a laptop, so I can't switch to a desktop - I actually have an old iMac for a desktop that I still use and still works perfectly. But in the last 4 years that I've had this thing, pretty much every part has had to be replaced and now it's making a weird sound when I move it (like the fan is loose, except that I've taken the keyboard off and the fan is fine, nothing is lose in there).

I'm not sure if I'll get it or not- my MacBook is from 2007 and it may be pointless to bother. Still, I'm going to look into it just to see if it communicates with Windows 7 better- file sharing between my two computers is an absolute nightmare!
