Husband Wanted...

When I was in my teens I was sure I was going to marry early. It was just something I'd always wanted. I was very tight-laced and "goody goody" in high school so I had no desire to be a young person and do things only young people get to do.

Now that I'm in my twenties, I have no plans to marry anytime soon, and am busy making up for all that lost mischief

HOWEVER... the one time I want a husband is when I have to go grocery shopping and cat shopping in the same night. I live alone in an upstairs apartment... lugging 3-week supply canned cat food, huge bag of litter, a gallon of milk, 2 2-liter Cokes, and 6 other variously-filled grocery bags up two flights of stairs alone is NOT my idea of a good time! lol!!

I'm one of those who HATE making two trips. I had to make an exception in this case, though. It just made me think of how nice it would be to have some help and how much I took that for granted when I lived with my parents.

If it helps, a husband would likely transform your load into 12 bottles of pop, 2 gallons of milk, and 12 bags of groceries, so you'd probably end up doing as much work anyway.

Ain't that the truth!! lol. Honestly, having a husband does not automatically guarantee having help with the groceries. Usually I go to the market when he's at work so I'm on my own anyway. When he is home, he has a very convenient "hearer", as in he doesn't realize I'm home until I'm in the door with 10 bags and two broken hands. Then he says "why didn't you say something? I didn't know you were home...". Hmmmm, thought the sound of the car, car door slamming, dogs going crazy would have tipped you off....

I can't complain though. He mows the grass, shovels the snow, takes care of the cars, kills bugs and takes out the garbage (just to name a few) so he's worth it.

I can only hope that you find one like mine....but you can't have mine!

Yesterday he changed out the litter box. Today he bought me hanging flower baskets and filled the Finch feeders, so we had birds and blooms.

He also made dinner as I had a long hard day at work. He also helped me finish the dishes. I am a lucky woman and I wish all on here to have such a wonderful spouse.

Some possible ideas: guy friends, Dad, Uncle's, a dolly.

Did someone mention working out/exercise? That idea sounds interesting on the surface, but why spend all that time working out just for a once a month grocery trip
But at the gym you could find someone to help with all those groceries!

Online grocery shopping!. They deliver them right to your door, and take into your kitchen if you want. Well, here in the UK they do.

I hate supermarket queues so that's why l do my shopping online every 2 weeks

Live-in boyfriend can do that too, and bf's are better. Boyfriend means you're together because you want to be. Husband its incidental and often breaks down to contractual obligation!

Or if even a BF is too smothering, perhaps a Boston Dynamics BigDog robot would be of assistance (developed for the army as a mechanical pack mule heh):

When I was married it seemed like I usually ended up carrying in the groceries anyway. My ex was a mechanic though and I really missed that. Especially since I ended up driving old cars for quite some time after I was divorced.

Don't forget the Oreo cookies!

Seriously, even with my DH's fetish for Oreos, he's a really good guy. He makes me spastic sometimes and I make him crazy. But it's been working pretty good now for 40 years. I think I'll keep him.

Hmm, good idea! We actually do have that, I think, but it's mostly for organic stuff and the like. Might be a little expensive, though.

My father is OBSESSED with Oreo cookies. He will eat half the bag - truly, 50% of the cookies in the bag in one sitting. How he doesn't puke them up is beyond me. I don't like them at all, except crushed in ice cream or other desserts!

So far, both of these are my favorite answers, lol! (Although I do like the butler idea!) Sounds like some people on the boards have sweet spouses,
but unfortunately I know plenty of people who don't, and some who are especially close to me are struggling with this issue - thus my current aversion to the subject

What I REALLY need to do is plan better instead of realizing, "Wow, I'm out of.... yup, everything!" That way I can make it easier while still doing it myself (don't I sound like the petulant 8-year-old). I like that idea best of all.
