Cat boarding- opinions please

Our AC broke last night!! Don't know when they'll fix it. Petey is already showing signs of stress: panting, pacing, constantly cleaning himself. The panting isn't non-stop but enough to worry me! Neko is doing good bc she's smart to lay still infront of the fan...petey's scared of the fan...

I want to drop them off at boarding at their all cat hospital. $19.25 ea/night
Sound good? BF is worried about boarding treatment/stress...
Have you boarded your cat? It would only be for 2 nights...hopefully if not one...better than a hot apt right?

Help please

The apt finally came and fixed it!!! Sorry... my stomach was in knots! I'll keep an eye on Petey though...poor little guy! His coat is so thick for a SH!

Considering how crazy hot it is here, I can only imagine how much that must have sucked.

If you watch slickdeals, occasionally there are great deals on portable AC units. Sams Club I believe had the DeLonghi 12,000 BTU for just a tick over $200. IMO its a good investment to keep one handy just as backup, at least in Texas. Some of them are remarkably efficient, and I just use it sometimes if I have a project I need to work in the garage overnight.

I agree on boarding as an absolute last resort though, as it is stressful, but it does beat heat stroke.

Thats a good idea!! I do need an AC unit as a back up incase this happens again...Something about a bad wire...hopefully it stays fixed. I was at work while my bf texted me his symptoms and behaviors soo of course i was freaking out but had to remain calm at work. Even my fish tank was reading 86 degrees when I got home at 4pm! As soon as I got home I fed the cats wet food and some raw for Petey too...getting that moisture in his system was an improvement for sure!

How hot inside does it get in Carrollton, TX when there is no ac?
I have a poorly functioning central ac system (five years, $5,000, still no easy fix). The ac will be running 24x7 and the temperature inside will be around 86 when the heat index outside is over 100 (Washington, DC) as it will be these next few days.
Ritz conserves energy and sleeps a lot, typically behind the sofa in the living room area. What is so funny strange is that my bedroom is usually 5 to 7 degrees cooler, yet Ritz prefers the hotter living room. We play around 5 a.m., and I wait until around 9 p.m. before initiating playtime. I've put her food on top of ice, but the crackling sounds freaked Ritz out. I've tried putting cool towels on her paws, but again, it freaks her out. She seems to do okay, but if I ever came home and discovered vomit, she'd immediately go to the vet.
My friend has three indoor/outdoor cats, and they have gone upstairs to the unairconditioned attic during the hottest part of the day to sunbathe. Go figure.
I did invest in an air conditioning window unit this year. Initially Ritz was afraid of it (it takes up half of her favorite window sill), but she soon grew accustomed to it. I play with her in there when it's really too warm--for me the human.

I know for outside temps, it reached 99 by 3pm. The fish tank read 86 but I think that was slightly cooler than the inside apt temp. It also felt hotter in the apt vs outside due to the lack of breeze. Neko was fine because she was smart to stay still...Petey on the other hand doesn't like to be in the same spot too long unless he's asleep. He was worn out when I got home...bf said he wouldn't drink any water and wouldn't be still.
