Do you get yearly flu shots? For those who do, do you find they make a difference?

Yep, I do get Flu Shots every year but I can't tell if they make a difference or not.

Nope. And I don't get the flu either

I would rather risk the flu than the detrimental things that could happen to me because of the flu shot.

Hi Kailie. No, I have never gotten a flu shot. Larry gets one every year except this last year AND he got sick alot. He takes a train to and from the city. He said he will never miss another flu shot again.

Both Dave and I get a flu shot every fall because we have health issues that make us more susceptible. I honestly can't remember the last time he got the flu. I end up with it about every 4 years, and always in February (go figure). And I get sick like no one you've ever seen; what hangs around for 4 or 5 days in most people hangs around 2 weeks for me---and usually has me lying on the sofa praying for death.

Got one many years ago, it made me so sick I've never had another one and never will.

nope... but I think now I should to....

I've never had a flu shot in my life, and don't intend on ever getting one, either. I don't know if I have a really good immune system or what, but I rarely get sick with the flu or anything else. My roommate got that swine flu shot back when they were available, and he got sicker than a dog. He said he's never gonna get another flu shot now, either.

I personally don't believe in vaccinations. It doesn't make much sense to me to inject yourself with something that can cause you to get sick. I understand the purpose behind getting vaccinations, but I'd rather let nature take its course...

This has always been my position, and like Nat, I've never been one to get the flu.

Lately I've developed other health issues, and I'm not getting any younger, so this year I let my doctor talk me into a shot. Still didn't get the flu, but since I didn't previously either, I'm not terribly inclined to credit the shot.

I've gotten a flu shot for the last several years. Since I'm getting older and diabetic, I figured I should. So far, I haven't had the flu.

No.

I probably ought to, but I usually don't bother.

I only did it one time. I did get the pneumonia shot in December. My arm was sore until Mother's Day, very sore. I had considered getting the shingles shot, but I was waiting for my arm to get better. Now I have to decide.

I have never gotten a flu shot or the flu. I am lucky that way. I have a freind who gets one every year and every year she gets the flu and is miserable.

I tried to answer this question yesterday and kept getting "Page Cannot Be Displayed" and I finally gave up.

No, I don't get flu shots. DH used to, until he came down with a serious flu about a month or so after getting the shot a few years ago. No more.

One of my co-workers got a flu shot and got serious reactions to the shot. He won't do it again either.

OTOH, I have a GF who ends up with a bad flu, and even pneumonia, without a yearly shot. So maybe it depends on the person?
