So today I went to petco to get some food for the animals and then I saw a lady that worked at one of the local shelters with this dog. So I went by him and petted the dog and the lady said that the dog is blind and he's available for adoption. As I was petting him his head hit my hand. I was he was trying to find where my hand was because usually when I pet dogs, they lick my hand. Then I saw this Oscar Cichlid and it was half blind. The fish was swimming normally but then he kind of titled to the said. I so wanted to take him home, but my tank is 10 gallons and full grown ones need at least 75 gallons. I felt so sorry for the animals that went I went out of the store, I started to feel so sad that I got the wrong food for lunch.

Has anyone felt this experience too that you felt so sorry for the animal that you just want to take it home, even though you didn't have the money?

Hm.. Maybe I should start my own rescue when I'm older. lol But I don't think that will never happen in this economy.

Only every single person on this site. It is heartbreaking to know that so many wonderful animals will never know the love and good care that they deserve. This is why some of us fight so hard for spay/neuter programs... can you imagine a day when no cat or dog ever has to be euthanized for lack of a good home?

I posted here a while ago that I went to PetSmart to get Holland some food and made the mistake of walking by the adoption cages. My first desire was a black cat (check!) and my next desire is a tortie. Well, that night there was a petite tortie girl up for adoption. Holland is a petite black girl, and I cannot even begin to tell you how hard it was for me to see that tortie girl, knowing that I couldn't take her home.

I made my purchase, went to my car and honestly cried for a few minutes. But the truth is I cannot afford another cat right now. As soon as I can, I will be getting one, but I can't at the moment.

If I could, I would take in every homeless animal I came across. But all we can do is do what we can. If you have time, maybe you can volunteer at a local shelter. It is hard knowing you can't save every animal in need, but know that any action you take to help an animal makes a difference.

Yep, I feel the same way, no matter where I go and see the homeless, abandoned cats/dogs. So many and my heart goes out to them all
