New Kitten with fleas

I am bringing home a new kitten the 12th and I'm sure she will have fleas I currently have two cats at home and dont want them infested. the kitten is only weeks ( she's from a bad home and they wont let the mommy keep her babies longer)

My plan is a capstar tablet at the park play with her there for like an hour then take her home and give her a bath with dawn and a flea comb. Would this get rid of all her fleas as well as prevent the others from getting them? I know it only works for 24 hours but she just needs to be clean before being allowed to roam

I dont know anything about this capstar tablet, so I cant say anything aobut it.

But bath with dawn soap as you write, and anti-fleas comb, is the standard recommendation. Keep her in her own room at least 24 h, if nothing else so she get this room as her own safety room. During this time you see if there are more fleas. And can take a new bath if there is any unsecurity left.

Good luck!

for the first 24 hours I was going to keep her in the bathroom since its easily cleaned. After that she gets my room to herself after a week when she's worm free she'll be introduced to our other 2 cats.

Also I am buying the capstar from the vet and its VERY highly recommended

Sounds very good!

Tx for this info. From now on I shall look more after this capstar.

Btw, so it can be bough from a vet. It is on vets prescription? Or can it be bought prescripiton free too?

Good luck!

ps. Did you deworm her too? How does it looks?

The anti-round worms is most important, as outside cats, and thus homeless too, do gets round worms from the moms.
Tape-worms comes from their prey, or from fleas. So having fleas they usually do get tapeworms sooner or later, but they are not there in the beginning.

Congratulations on your kitten. I would make sure to keep your other cats out of the kitten's litterbox for up to two - three weeks. THe little darling probably has some worms and will need two deworming treatments two - three weeks apart. Then I would check the stool again two weeks after the two treatments, just to make sure. Much luck with your new little one

I am actually having the vet deworm her.

Its prescription free they told me just come in and buy as many tablets as i need.

As for litter boxes she is going to be quarantined until the worms are completely out of her system.

She is coming home next week I just wanted everything together. and I will post LOTS of pictures

The capstar only works 24 hours its not a flea medicine but it starts killing fleas in 15 minutes usually all are dead in a few hours so its really good to prevent the infestation of your other pets and home
