Tonight I went and saw my first real 3D movie since I was a little kid!

My friend and I went for dinner and a movie tonight. I really wanted to see the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Because of the time and our late start to our evening, we settled on the 10:20 showing, which turned out to be a "real" 3D version.

OMG!
Johnny Depp literally popping off the screen!

It was amazing! I'm completely hooked on 3D movies. The last 3D movie I saw we were given paper glasses with one red and one green cello lens. The 3D glasses we were given tonight were nothing like that!

Fabulous! If you haven't seen Pirates, I recommend the movie. If you have already seen it, I recommend you see it again in 3D if it's available in your area!

I want to go back and watch it again!! LOL

Linda, Avatar was fantastic in 3D. The new 3D's are amazing.

Can I assume you will be getting one of the new 3D TV's that are out on the market now?

See I saw Avatar in 3D and wasn't too impressed - I didn't think they took full advantage of all the things they could have done with the technology. Everything was in 3D, but I remember walking out of there with a sore butt and disappointed that nothing really came at me out of the screen - especially during the fighting screens.

I saw UP in 3D, I loved it, they did a lot with it. I also saw that horror movie that came out in 3D, I think it was the first movie to come out with real 3D. It was pretty good, things would come straight at you so you thought they were going to hit you... even though I'm not a big horror movie person.

The only problem that I have with them is that I have Wayfarer style glasses, which are about the same size and shape as the glasses they give you. It ends up being really uncomfortable trying to wear two pairs of glasses through a movie. I've tried having them under and over, no matter which way, one pair always slips, lol.

We got 2 free movie passes from our realtor for referring him to our friends (who are on track to buying a house less than a mile from us!!), and we're thinking of using them to see the new Pirates movie. I actually thought it was only in 3D, so was just expecting to have see it in 3D. I rarely go to the movies, so I haven't seen anything in 3D, but the little 3D stuff I have seen is kind of nauseating, to be honest. I'll try it though.

Glad you had fun and enjoyed it!!

I didn't even know there were 3D televisions. My friend told me about them yesterday.

I'll have to investigate them a bit more. If thee is a way to turn off the 3D effect, maybe. But I don't want to have to put on a pair of 3D glasses to watch everything on television, and I sure can't see myself having a stash of 3D glasses at home for people to use just in case we decide to turn on the television.

Not all programs will be in 3D so you won't be watching everything in 3D. Some folks cannot watch 3D as it makes them dizzy or light-headed. My SIL cannot watch 3D movies.

My ex works for Panasonic and they have a 3D TV so I'm considering getting him to get one for me but I'll probably wait a year or so until the pricing comes down even though he gets the employee discount.

By the way. For those that go see Pirates, whether it's the 3D version or not, don't forget to stay beyond the credits, because like all Pirates movies, there is a bit more film at the very end of all of the credits, which hints towards the next movie.
